Help, I have been researching all inclusive resorts all day in Playa Del Carmen and I am still not sure where to stay. My husband and I are going in October. We want to be around other people and have fun, but want alone time too. We would like to stay where it is tropical and has a Caribbean flavor. We are on a budget but could probably splurge some to stay in a nice resort. We are in our early 50's so were not really into kids. We would like to go into town and if its within walking distance that would be nice, but not a requirement. My husband likes to dive and I like to snorkel. Any suggestions?
How to get from airport to hotel in a middle of the night? I addressed this question to Imperial Las Perlas hotel where we will be staying. They do not respond. It was mention they have transportation to and from airport. We will arrive about 2am. Any suggestion what to use for transportation and how much it cost??
How easy is it to park your rental? If we go to the malls, downtown, hotel zone, Xel-ha, Xplor, Tulum, Coba, Playa de Carmen, is there available easy parking? We are still trying to decide on a rental or public transportation.
Please help! Looking to book at B&B Villa Morena and was wondering if anyone heard of this place-it has wonderful reviews....going with my husband and my 19 year old daughter and 16 year old son....looks about 20 mins to Mayan Ruins in Tulum.....any thoughts would greatly be appreciated
Thx, Rina from Phila
My wife and I will be spending 5 days in Cancun and then on to Costa rica for our journey back home to Australia.
Is it possible to get buses all the way,we want to explore Belize, Honduras Nicaragua before getting to Costa rica we have 28 days for this trip is it doable ?, or are the roads that bad that it could take days to get to city to city,
Is it a safe way to travel and any idea of approximate cost for fares, we will be in the area in September.
There appears to be a lot of paperwork and documents needed now to travel with children without their parents. Conflicting information from embassy and online. Has anyone recently been through Cancun airport with their grandchildren? Can you describe the requirements coming in and departing Mexico? INM Spanish documents??
My wife is somewhat modest, but very outgoing and takes pranks very well. We will be in Cancun next week. I would like to know if they still have the air blasts on the bar at Coco Bongos and how I could get her selected to dance on the bar before she has a chance to see what it is all about?--David
A group of friends are thinking of going to Cancun around July 10th for our graduation trip. We're all 18.
How's the nightlife at this time of year? We're looking for intense partying, spring break style :)
Obviously it won't be as packed and crazy as spring break, but will there still be a lot of college kids partying at this time of year?
We are planning our first trip to Cancun (with a 4 day hop over to Havana) in November.
We are in our mid 60s so don't want/need late night night club's, however we do like a drink and some entertainment within walking of our hotel.
Would be grateful for advice/recommendation's on a decent hotel/s that might fit the above.
Not concerned if all inclusive or not.
Any suggestions on car rental in Cancun? I've heard good things and horror stories about different agencies with some people saying an agency is good and another saying the same agency is a terrible rip-off. What experiences have you had?
I saw a previous posting about "excursions with a baby" but I am hoping Cancun experts will be able to weigh in on some activities we are considering with our toddler. We are going to Cancun for 5 days (before heading to Tulum for a wedding). Some things we have thought about doing with our son who will be 20 months are:
- Isla Mujeres Day Trip, Underwater Museum and Tortugranja
- Garrafon Natural Reef Park
- Hummer Jungle Tour
- Marine Turtle Observation
- Aktun Chen, Akumal
- Wet n Wild
- Cancun Interactive Museum
- Crococun Zoo
I am wondering if any of these are "tourist traps" worth avoiding, and if something is a must. We plan to do one activity a day as our child is very active and likes to be outdoors doing something.
Thanks for any insight.
Can you visit other people in other hotels
Has anyone bought a house in Isla Mujeres? Can I get some advise from you?
I already found a house I just don't know how to go about buying it and who to trust.
My wife an I are supposed to go to Puerto Morelos on Monday, but on Friday our doctor advised against it due to a dengue fever epidemic there. Is this true? Would you cancel your trip? She is 20 weeks pregnant and this was supposed to be a holiday and finally our honeymoon before the baby arrives. Others have said there is no risk. What do you think?
Hi, I am going to Cancun soon and I was wondering what kind of tour company to use and looking for some suggestions of trustworthy tours to the Mayan Ruins (Tulum, Coba or Chichen Itza). I see that there are small private minibus tours for what looks to be a similar price as the big group bus tours. I would prefer that way because of the flexibility. My husband and I have been to Cancun 2 times before but our kids haven't and we want them to have a more authentic experience. I speak fluent Spanish if that helps. BTW, I don't want to deal with renting a car.
My gf and I are travelling to Mexico and it looks like Akumal is an expensive place to stay so we're considering getting accommodation in Tulum instead. Is this a good idea? Is Tulum a nice enough town?
Is it safe to drive around the Yucatan (Cancun to Valladolid, to Tulum, to Akumal, and back) at night? Our flights get in very late at night (around midnight) and leave very early in the morning (around 7am). We'd love to avoid having to stay in a hotel at the airport, but don't know if that's feasible as I've heard the roads are not very well lit and thus signs would be hard to follow--and we've never driven there before. We would plan on renting a car.
Speaking of which--does anyone have any good recommendations for the best/cheapest company to rent a car from at the Cancun airport? I've read that prices that American car rental companies quote online are only that cheap b/c they don't include the required insurance that you have to purchase. Any car rental advice would be great. Thanks!
Two Families (kids age 15 & 12), coming to Cozumel on MSC Cruise in March. Thinking of doing Thriller Jet Boat Ride. Do you recommend? I believe it is a 15 min cab ride from port. Right? How much would cab ride be? Afterwards thinking of finding a beach. Is Paradise Beach close? Is there another beach you would recommend? Thanks!!!!
Are there any "non-touristy" things to do to experience the culture of the area? Maybe something like a market; much like a farmers market. Things that the locals do on a regular basis.
Hi there - could anyone let me know if it will be possible to make a late crossing to Holbox.
Our flight arrives into Cancun at 19:00, so we expect to arrive into Chiquila at about 23:00, I've read on a few forums that you can pay a local fisherman to take you across. Is this safe and how readily available will they be? We are travelling mid November. I know people will say stay the night in Cancun and make the trip the next day, but we are very keen just to get to the island as our time there will be short and we don't want to waste another day travelling.
any help would be appreciated.
Moving to playa the end of April and interested in leasing condos/apartments on Airbnb for some supplemental income. Does anyone have any experience you can share?
Are there any affordable golf courses near Tulum?
When is the New Airport to be Open?
Hi, my family and I are planning to travel to Cozumel for a week long trip. We are looking into transportation options for our stay.
I understand there are plenty of taxis. However, we plan to make a trip around the Island of Cozumel visiting various sites including sites that are on the other side of the island which requires at least an hour commute or more.
Many of the tours you can book cost over $100US and we think that renting a car could be a better option for us and save us money. Renting a car would allow us to travel on our own time and pay on our own terms rather then spending hideous amounts just to drive somewhere to get a tour.
We don't plan to use the car to travel to Chichen Itza or Tulum. We will take tours to those to locations off the island.
What we would like to know if renting a car is a good idea or not. We have heard it is super dangerous to drive in Cozumel because drivers there show no mercy. We are very nervous about getting into an accident.
We also have questions regarding car insurance coverage in Mexico since all US policies do not cover out of the country vehicles.
Please, we need a variety of advice and pros/cons of why or why not.
We have already visited numerous sites as to why and why not but we are still at a stand still as to whether to depend on a taxi for everything we want to do or make it a do-it-yourself trip on the island.
For other details that might help to answer our plea for advice, there are 4 of us which taxis may or may not charge per person and the costs will add up.
Please, any advice from the pros and worldwide travelers!
We would love to visit Tulum, and unfortunately will be traveling during Spring Break in the U.S. (second week of March). Knowing that nearby Cancun is a crazy popular Spring Break destination, we'd really like to know before booking whether or not Tulum is still relatively free of the Spring Break madness, or if there will inevitably be tons of drunk college kids everywhere in the Riviera Maya during the second week of March? We understand Tulum is already a popular tourist destination, but we can deal with the normal tourist traffic, but would really prefer to avoid the Spring Break crowd. Any wisdom?
I am going to travel to Puerto Aventuras and I wonder if I can get the following information,
Is it easy to rent bicycles and golf carts in PA, how much approximately?
Does any one have information about a condo called Joyol Ha? Can you share some info about this condo?
Thanks in advance
We are coming into Cozumel on a cruise ship. What would be a good beach to go to for the day (we are in port form 8am until 3 pm). we are traveling with our elderly mother, who loves to swim in the ocean. She can't really do a lot of walking around, so we are looking for something that she can enjoy with out tons of walking. Is there a good tour we should do, or would a beach be the best?
Does anyone have any suggestions for the best place for valentines night?
We are a family of 4... Kids 12 and 14... Is there enough to do in Akumal for a week or should we plan on renting a car to take in the touristy stuff without staying there??
Hello. Can you rent and ride paddle boards? Are rentals available on the beach near resorts?
What is the name of the shop that carries items that change color in sunlight?
