So I'm a teenage girl that is going to Mexico ,Cancun, in 2 weeks with my big brother and mum. We thought of visiting chichenitsa(don't know how to spell it, but it's an archeological site outside of town) and go to that place where there are houndreds of statues under the sea water. We also wan't to go christmas shopping in a famous mall, but it's not so near our hotel(I'm staying at Moon Palace resort). I have heard alot of bad things about Mexico and getting really nervous know. What should I watch out for, but still be able to enjoy my time there? And is the resort that I'm staying at safe(from for ex. corrupt polices invading your room and stealing, spiced drinks etc)? :/
Hi I'm traveling to the royal playa del Carmen in early May 2014, been reading trip advisor and I'm getting really concerned regarding the construction that going on at the mo!!! Paid almost 4 grand for two weeks..... Does anybody know when this will be completed or what's the best room to be furthest away from it all????
Hello. I will be arriving in Cancun midday and leaving the following evening. Would love some ideas on what is in Cancun to see and do. I would have loved to have gone to Xcaret but too far and not enough time.
We will have a rental car and are wondering if its better to drive North back up by the airport and take the toll road to Chichen Itza or is it better to go South to Tulum and then take the 109 highway to Valladolid. Google maps shows both to be very similar in time with the route through Tulum being a bit shorter in distance.
We have been to Cancun many times. We usually stay off the beaten path where we can mix with the locals. We find that to be much more enjoyable. We like to be able to walk to nearby restaurants, markets and beaches. We are also budget minded travelers. Our requirements for hotel room is a clean room with a comfortable bed, air conditioning and private bath. All that being said, can someone recommend a place to stay for 8 or 10 days in March of 2014? Thanks in advance for the information.
Does anyone have any experience using prepaid travel cards (Travelex,Fairfx etc) at atms in Mexico? Are they reliable, and what do the banks there charge per transaction? I occasionally used my debit card last time and got absolutely clobbered, what`s the best solution for a visit lasting 4 months? Thanks
are there any long termers that can recommend places to stay that have good monthly deals? By that I mean about 100 pounds a week for a single person, clean with hot water, cable tv and wifi and not situated directly above a nightclub, cheers.
We are trying to book a hotel for next summer and have no idea where to stay. There are so many beautiful places, but don't know….Playa del carmen? Playa de Morelos? or the city of Cancun? We would really like to be in Cancun, but we are a little worried about safety. Anyones help would be appreciated.
What is the current weather like? I was reading mostly rain online and am getting nervous! I will be arriving on Saturday and am hoping for nice weather!
I want to find the best way to get out of the international terminal and find a bus/van headed from Cancun to Valladolid. I hear there are collective vans for around $8USD (where are they upon exiting the airport swarm)? Can I catch a ride directly to the bus terminal and head to Valladolid if I arrive to Cancun at 3pm? What are the odds of success? JQ
Hello! I am planning on visiting Tulum with a friend of mine this December. We enjoy the beach and plan on seeing the ruins and doing several of the eco tours such as the various caves. I was wondering if there are any other towns outside of Tulum that you would recommend visiting as a day trip? I imagine that Tulum is fairly touristy, and was looking to get a more 'authentic' Mexican city/town feel. If you have any recommendations that would be great!
We are not planning on renting a car but are open to taking public busses, etc. Thank you.
I'll be in cancun next week and getting ready to pack. This is the first time we go there in November and was wondering if I should pack for chilly weather?
I am caught between these two hotels, both the same price. I would like to book tonight.
First, I am comparing the Vibe Oceanview room at the ME Cancun with the Deluxe Oceanview room at the Paradissus. The Paradissus has better reviews (slightly), on tripadvisor. There were some complaints for the ME that most good stuff you have to pay for, whereas I didn't see anything at Paradissus. Both are fairly well located, the ME a tad better beside La Isla. What gets me when you are paying more is the quality of food, room and service. As per the ME, there were some complaints about cheap alcohol. It would not be fun if you can't have a meal at this price in a place like that where a reasonably good glass of wine can be served, my experience with wines down south so far have been mediocre, even in 4+ hotels. I am hoping this is better. Any comments?
Next, service. Rude service or cunning service at the front desk to con you into upgrading your room for a commission fee by telling you that the room you want is unavailable, or they purposely give you a bad one I would also like to avoid. So far, Paradissus and ME don't have much on this, and especially they don't have many leakage incidents or no warm water, or A/C isn't working so that is good.
A few things about the ME Cancun basic oceanview room with no balcony, you actually see the ocean, I didn't see that for Paradissus, you actually see the balcony and a partial view of the ocean which defeats the oceanview upgrade.
Restaurants? Anyone have experience on these hotels which serve better more quality oriented food?
I thank you in advance for your help!
i bought a medication called naproxen/carisoprodol ( soma) from a store near the cruise ship

Anyone have any feedback on The Elements condo in Playa? How is the beach in front of it? Also, how far is the walk to 5th ave. Any good restaurants right next to the condo? Trying to decide if we should stay here or at the all inclusive The Royal.

I went to a "local downtown" restaurant years ago. They had entertainment during the meal, the wait staff did skits, etc. they made everyone in the restaurant dance the "tequila song" basically the bunny hop. When you entered the door way, they gave you a shot of tequila. Anyone know the name of this place?
What has been anyone's experience with the Mayan Tours?
My wife and I are coming to Playa Del Carmen in February and have rented a condo in the Meridian. Does anyone have any information on the Meridian? I would interested to know if it is noisy in that area or if it is far enough from the night life to be a quiet area. Also any comments on the coco beach area. Thanks

What percentage of my cash should be in local currency? I know in some countries tipping in Us Dollars is preferred. Does anyone know if this is the case in Cancun
