Here can I purchase a bouquet of flowers in or around punta de mita
Several years ago, I took about a 1 to 2 hour taxi ride out of San Blas (an hour north of Puerto Vallarta), to a small Huichol village, that was on a round island, and was presumably patterned after Tenochtitlan. The streets were laid out in a circular pattern. It was accessible only by boat. I assumed it was generally north of San Blas, but I can't locate it now. Any suggestions?
Greetings from Alaska! I have two daughters, ages 14 and 11, who have been in a Spanish Immersion program since kindergarten and speak Spanish fluently. I’m hoping/planning to travel with them for a month to Mexico this summer so they can speak Spanish language outside of a classroom and immerse themselves in a foreign culture. One option I’m considering is flying to Puerto Vallarta and then traveling north to a much smaller, much less touristy town along the coast. A friend recommended Guayabitos as a possibility, although I understand there are many small towns along the coast there that could fit our interests. I’m hoping that we might be able to live(eat, sleep, etc.) very inexpensively with a non-English speaking Mexican family for the month, ideally one that has similar-aged girls so that my daughters would have friends to hang out with. We did the same in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua about four years ago. Can you give me any leads/suggestions on how I might be able to make contact with a local family that might be willing to house and share breakfasts and dinners with the three of us for a month? Another alternative I'm considering is doing volunteer work there at a group home or orphanage with lots of kid. The key for me is that the girls have something fun and interesting to do, all the while speaking Spanish and experiencing another culture. I’m unemployed and travelling on a very very low budget, so low cost is a very important consideration. Thanks in advance for any ideas and information you may have. Kenny Powers, Anchorage, Alaska
I am planning a trip to Paradise Village in September. I believe this resort is safe but one has to get there from the airport and then travel outside the gates for groceries, etc. I read that one needs to be sure the taxi you are riding in is legit. I recently saw the photos of the dead (skinned men)in Tepic (an hour from NV) and was mortified. I know the killings were drug related but the violence seems to be extraordinarily brutal and may, in the future, know no boundaries. Also, I am buying a condo on El Tigre Golf Course (Sensara) and I am concerned about the long term safety. In addition I believe the developer is out of money. Does anyone know the status? I am considering cancelling my contract with them and travel to Nuevo Vallarta Paradise Village using my points for all future travel.
I am interested in renting a house for a month over christmas 2011 in Loa Ayalas, I am familiar with the area but not this house and can't find any reviews anywhere on line. Do any of you have any info on 'Cas Rey'--it is next to a beautiful condo complex on the beach and shares their pool. Susan

My wife, 18yr son and I are planning a trip to Punta Mita in June and I am wondering if I should buy/exchange US Dollars for Pesos before I get to Mexico? Also, is there safe activities for a teenage boy to do by himself without getting in to trouble?! We will be staying at the Fairmont Rancho Banderas Vacation Villas.
I have some concerns of getting to Sayulita from the Puerto Vallarta airport. This is my first trip to Sayulita and I understand the only way to get there from the airport in PV is by taxi. My flight arrives around 8:30 pm. Someone said you should not take a taxi from the immediate airport area, but need to cross a road to another (cheaper?) taxi stand. How safe is this and how much will it cost me? Have there been any problems recently with these cabs? Thanks for your help.

My fiance and I want to get civilly married, on the beach, In Rincon or La Penita, on February 14th, 2009. We are renting a condo there from Jan. to April. We want just a small wedding, the 2 of us, with the witnesses. Anybody has any tip on how to find a celebrant and a photographer? All we have seen on the Internet are big hotels where you can get married, rather expensive.. Any info would be welcome! Thanks, Mimi
Hola, I am trying to remember the name of a beautiful wide sandy beach maybe 30 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. I think it is the first beach you come to on the main road after you leave Manzanilla heading toward Punta Mita. It is very near the road and there is a a nice outlook from the road overlooking the beach. There is a small free parking area with some concession stands on the beach. It is very common with local families and crowded on the weekends, the sunset is beautiful. According to a map I found it is north of Las Cargadas. Attached are links to a Nayarit map with an arrow pointing to the beach and another with an actual picture from the beach. I seem to remember but I'm not positive, maybe confusing it with somewhere else, but I think there may be an archway entering into the parking area and the name is on the arch. But I'm not sure. Anyone know the name? Thanks! img.photobucket.com/albums/v... img.photobucket.com/albums/v... Thanks

This is the first time to Guayabitos for my wife and me. We are traveling with another couple from Canada. We are looking for fairly simple accommodations but with pool access. Most everything else is optional. We have traveled in Mexico lots and we wanted to see this area that friends have recommended. We can also book a place for a few days to look around for other places to stay. We are very flexible. Any ideas?
I was in a Nayarit restaurant in Chicago and saw GREAT posters that looked like they were from a travel agency. Does anyone know where I can find posters of Nayarit?? If you know PLEASE email me at: dssmalko@scj.com Thank you!!!! Daren

Hello. My boyfriend and I are looking to come some time in the early 1/2 of December for about 5 nights. Here is what would be ideal; and of course I know a perfect fit is hard to find, or may already be booked. Privacy, romantic, pool, ocean view, walk to beach and town, kitchen (barbque would be nice too, as would a jaccuzi, but I'll try not to go overboard ). This visit would be during the high season and we do not want to spend more than200/night;150 would be ideal. I look forward to any help and suggestions anyone can provide. So far my favorites are Casa Angel, which is almost booked, and Casa Sonrisa (the top palapa penthouse portion). So if anyone wants to comment on those I would appreciate that input. Gracias.
I will travel to Tepic next June. I would like to know if I can rent a car there? I couldn't make a reservation on-line, I tried in dollar, budget & hertz. Thanks
I would like to know the conditions at the landing strip. Is there 100LL avgas available? Is the airport attended? What sort of security is available for the aircraft? Are there any fees for using the airport?
hi! I'm a single mom thinking of making a trip later this year (with my 2 teenagers) and was wondering if anyone could suggest a good place to stay - its got to be clean and reasonably priced (I don't need 5 star tho'!!) but I'm a little nervous booking something unknown over the net without a recommendation!
We are interested in moving to the Rincon de Guaybitos area but have been unable to find any information on the internet concerning medical facilities in the immediate area. We would appreciate it if someone could provide us with particulars as to where the closest medical clinic and hospital is located.
I am planning on traveling to Pantanal region of Bolivia and Brazil. I will be taking the train form Santa Cruz, Bolivia to the Brazilian border (Corumba). Is it possible to take a train to Campo Grande and into Paraguay? Also, for those who have traveled in the Bolivian Pantanal, what have been your experiences? Barry

Wondering if anyone has any advice for planning a wedding in San Francisco (aka San Pancho). My fiance & I recently visited there and fell in love with the place- we are very interested in getting married there, but I am not really sure where to start. Any advice?
Just how bad are the jejenes in January on the beaches of Nayarit? Does DEET work well against them? Karen
I'm staying in San Pancho and Punta Mita in January. My daughter (who has surfed before) and I (with no surfing history) want to try surfing at either or both places. What is the surf like there in January? Is it good for a beginner? What beaches in the area are the best for beginning surfers? You don't need a wetsuit in January, do you? Karen
