Any colonial cities open on Mondays

by khagwell Online Now Oct 13, 2010 at 5:22 PM

I see that the tourist attractions in MG's colonial cities are frequently closed on Mondays. Is that the case with all of these (my tentative itinerary)
Diamantina, Ouro Preto, Tiradentes, Sao Joao del Rei

If they're closed on Monday, are they also closed on Sunday?

Perhaps I'd do better to stay in Belo Horizante on Monday?

Thanks for any tips

Haven't been there on a Monday, but in my experience all historical attractions are open on Sundays.

The wonders at Congonhas -- works of the immortal Aleijadinho -- are nearly all outside, making that town a good choice for a Monday visit. Cave do Daniel, a restaurant adjacent to the cathedral grounds, serves good and inexpensive meals.

All main tourist attractions are opened on Sundays. Mondays are usually the day of the week when most of them close their doors, but I´m sure some of them don´t. Try to check this info in some tourist guide book. They usually provide it.

Enjoy Minas!!! It´s a State with many hidden gems.
