Visiting in June - To eat out and chill out... advice please

by wanderersmelody Online Now May 6, 2012 at 11:53 PM

Husband and I are travelling from Marrakech for a 5 night stay. We really do just want to chill out and Essaouira seems like the perfect mix of some sightseeing and then watching the sights. Can anyone give advice of where we could go for some maassages/spa type places (and not necessarily the big hotels) along with prices we'd expect to pay. As for watching the world go by, are there street/beach cafes/bars where we can sit with a bottle of wine? Again, what sort of prices do you pay for this? First visit to Morocco so have absolutely no idea what to expect! But really really looking forward to it!

Essaouira is a lovely place, about three hours and a bit by bus from Marrakech. are you going there on a day trip or will you stay a night? please check my pages, I think i have written a page on Essaouira.. SAMs on the waterfront is a lovely place to have lunch , to watch the boat but not people. to watch people it is better to be at the square where there are oodles of restos where you can sit and watch and sip wine. it is also nice to walk around the old city and the sea shore...

Don't expect to drink alcoholic drinks in outdoor cafe's, A lot of restaurants do sell wine but you will have to sit inside to drink it. Taros has a roof top bar that overlooks Moulay Hassan square and the restaurant Bab Lachour also has a balcony overlooking the square. Here is a short list of Hammams, but there are many more to choose from essaouira.madeinmedina.com/e... Beach & Friends and Ocean Vagabond are both good places at the beach to hang out during the day.

Mmm...I've just returned from this delightful place two days ago. Good food can be had at most of the cafes in the fishing port ---have a look! Also, try the place on the beach opposite the old Sofitel (now Medina?)Hotel. This restaurant belongs to the hotel and is worth visiting in the evening. It's worth taking your camera for sunset shots. Finally, I'm sorry that I don't have a name for this place: go to the little bastion fort near the port. You can go up on the ramparts. Now, when you're up there turn to face into the city and you should see a restaurant facing you from the town. You'll need to locate the stairs up to the restaurant ---they're on the way out of the bastion tower ---just go down the ramp, go to leave the area and you'll find the entrance along a passage which has several lanterns hanging down in it. The seafood is excellent. Oh,CDs? There are several great outlets.
