Bus to Casablanca?

by Deneen1 Online Now Aug 31, 2010 at 6:14 AM

Hi everyone! I'm traveling to Essaouira by bus from Marrakech toward the end of September. I plan to stay two nights, then take a bus to Casablanca for my last night before flying home. I was reading on tripadvisor.com that the bus ride from Essaouira to Casa is 7 to 10 hours????? Is this on a Supratours or CTM bus? Looking at a map Essaouira looks to be south of Casa on the coast so I figured it would make more sense to take the bus to Casa than to backtrack to Marrakech to take the train. Can I take a Supratours or CTM bus to Casablanca from Esssaouira and if so does anyone know the average time of the trip? Thanks so much, Deneen

This is my tip from my Essaouira Page CTM have two buses departing Essaouira for Casablanca, one at 11:15am and arrive into Casablanca at 17:15pm. As for the second bus I don't know the time of departure. Journey time is about 6 hours. Price is around 110 dirhams plus 5 dirhams for luggage. Please use times and prices as a rough guide only

Supratours have an office outside the medina and pretty sure they have buses going to Casablanca and the travel time will not be much difference. If you want more comfort then take bus back to Marrakech then train from there to Casablanca but the journey will take longer.

I just took the CTM bus the first week in August from Essaouira to Casablanca. Last scheduled CTM bus departs Essaouira at approximately 16:45, scheduled arrival Casablanca is approximately 23:00. The bus actually departed 2-hours late, and we didn't get into Casa until around 01:00 in the morning. Not a problem if you have a confirmed reservation at the IBIS Casa Voyageur Hotel at the Casa Voyageur Gare. ElDesierto

Thank you both for the help! I think I should try and take the morning bus back to Casa, I don't want to get in late at night and have to find the Ibis. I'm actually staying at the Ibis you mentioned so that I can be by the train station the next morning to leave for the airport on the train.

Someone else had in their travel tips that the CTM station was near a Sheraton in Casa? Do you know what Sheraton? When I google I come up with three Sheratons. Could I walk to the Ibis Gare Voyageurs from the CTM or is it too far?

More than likely the hotel listed below: Sheraton Hotel. 100, Avenue des F.A.R., Casablanca, 20000, Morocco. Phone: (212) (522) 439494 Could I walk to the Ibis Gare Voyageurs from the CTM or is it too far? >> It would be much better if you took a petit taxi from the CTM Terminal to the Ibis Gare Voyageurs (just ask the taxi driver to take you to the Gare Voyageur). It is too far to walk. During the day, you could take a city bus, but a petit taxi makes much more sense. We had no problem finding a taxi at 01:30 in the morning, but being lucky is sometimes better than being good. Let us know how the Maroc trip works out, ElDesierto

CTM bus station in Casablanca is behind the Hotel Sheraton on Rue Leon L'Africain. You will Find the Hotel on Sheraton on Ave des Forces Armees Royales (Ave des FAR). Walk around the hotel and you will find it. Casa Voyagers Train Station is 3.5km away, If you have baggage take taxi. Then again if you taking a taxi then you might as well go all the way to airport if you got plenty of dirham left. Taxi to airport is about 250Dirham

Hi, I am just back from Morocco and travelled Essaouira to Casablanca just last weekend. Here are the options: 1) Supratours does not run this route. This bus line is affiliated with the train service, so their option is to take Supratour back to Marakech, then train up to Casablanca. Much longer and more$, I don't recommend. 2) CTM goes up the coast, price is now up to 140dh + 5 for 2 pieces of luggage. Leave at 11:10 and again later at night (we took the 11:10), and takes about 6-7h. Our bus left 45min late and we got off at El-Jadida around 5:30 (which is still over an hour away from Casa). Comfortable seats, A/C, good service. I recommend booking at least one day in advance, this route sells out often. 3) There are a number of other 2nd tier bus lines running up the coast, cheaper with more departure times which might be more convenient to you, locals tend to take these. Some of those buses looked way old, others looked quite nice and similar to CTM -- something else to consider if you're on a budget. Have fun!
