      On Street Parking: Johannisalle area

      Leipzig Apr 30, 2013 at 12:46 AM

I would be grateful if anyone could tell me if there is any free on street parking near "Johannisallee" as we are planning to visit a friend in that area. I just want to be prepared for our visit as it is our 1st time in the city with a car. I also don't mind a bit of walk if necessary.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    • Planning a holiday in the Erzgebirge

We are planning a holiday in the Erzgebirge in May or early June 2012. We are thinking of staying in Seiffen (self-catering in a 'ferienwohnung') and taking day trips. We are still in the very early stages of fact-finding, but the general idea is to hire our car in Berlin (where we have family) drive south through Leipzig, stay 5-6 nights in Seiffen, then return to Berlin via Dresden and the Spreewald. I would be happy to receive any and all advice, tips, ideas on places to visit, in the Erzgebirge as well as tips on driving in the area - what are the minor roads like, for instance? This will help us make some sort of itinerary and enjoy the region to the fullest. I've spent hours on the Internet but there's nothing like the experiences of fellow travellers. Just to add some background - we are English-speaking, my German is very basic (my husband's doesn't exist) and we have only visited Germany twice, both times to Berlin this year to stay with our married daughter who is studying there. We loved the city but now we want to see more of the country.

    • Travelling to Seiffen or Olbernhau

by JaneJenvey Online Now Nov 24, 2006 at 2:43 PM

Hello, I am travelling from London to Seiffen in February. This journey seems to be quite difficult as there are no direct flights from England to Dresden. There seem to be two possibilties. Either to fly to Altenburg Airport near Leipzig, or Prague. From both of them public transport seems to be long and difficult. I don't want to rent a car. I would like some suggestions as to the best way of reaching Seiffen from London ! In particular, what is the best way of getting from Prague to Seiffen. Is it best to get a train to Chumotv or Karlovy Vary, and after that what is the quickest form of public transport ?
