I will be staying at the NH Erlangen Hotel. Their website says the train station is 500 meters from the hotel. From the train station, how do I get to the hotel? Are there sidewalks from the station to the hotel? Thanks!
As the web site of the NH Erlangen says : ....is located in central Erlangen, next to the Erlangen Conference Center and easy walking distance to Siemens. Boutiques, bistros, bars and theatre are only minutes away in the lively pedestrian zone. The main train station just 500 meters from the hotel. Am not sure if 500 meters is exact but you could open GOOGLE MAPS and driving directions -- GET DIRECTIONS--and in the first box A put: Bahnhof Erlangen, Bahnhofplatz 5, Erlangen 91054 Erlangen, Bayern, Germany and the destination box B is: Beethovenstraße 3, 91052 Erlangen, Deutschland (NH Erlangen) and you can see driving as well as WALKING directions.

The route looks very walkable with pavements. I saw this picture of the ARCADEN ERLANGEN which is midway between the station and the hotel. It's a very large shopping centre I think: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/35894298 erlangen-arcaden.de/index.ph...

I've yet to come across a station in any city in Germany where there are no sidewalks. Many people walk to a station to get a train. Google maps can give you a detailed description on where to walk to your hotel.

Think this is a bit more than 500 meters walking distance. You could also travel by bus from Erlangen Bahnhof (station) to Neuer Markt. As this relation is served by 8 bus lines there should be a high frequency of buses. 500 meter is nothing in Erlangen. Easy to walk, and many people on the streets. Have a great stay! Chris.
