please advise 2-3-day hiking routes in the area with stay in the mountain huts.
We are planning to visit Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the mid of June for a hike.
Moderate-to-difficult level is OK, but we do not want to take any equipment with us except sleeping bags.
Do we need sleeping bags to stay in the mountain huts?
Any advises for must-see places and links to good sites are welcome.
We'll be arriving in the evening at Memmingen Airport and staying in town some distance from the bus station. There is scheduled "Rufbus" service at that time, which I understand is a shared taxi we need to call ahead for. Does the "Rufbus" only stop at the bus station, or can it also stop at our hotel? If the former, it sounds like we (2 adults and 1 Minifrosch) might as well just take a regular taxi. Does this make sense? Thanks!
We will be in Munich December 23rd thru the 26th. We are planning a day trip to the Castles on the 23rd which will take up most of our day. I knew a lot of things would be closed on Christmas Day, but looking for suggestions for our little family of 3 (college age daughter and parents) If anyone who has knowledge or been in Munich during this period can provide us with some insight I would be most grateful. Suggestions on Restaurants that are open and good for the 24th & 25th? If everything is closed in Munich suggestions on day trips for those dates. Thanks a bunch!
Quick question- Going to be on two flights within Germany soon. Any flights in and from the US we have to have our liquids(ie shampoo, toothpaste) separate, so they can be looked at. Do I need to be concerned with this in Germany too, or just pack it in the carry on? I would hate to hold up the line if I had to dig through the bag, so it's best to know ahead of time. Thanks.
We wish to visit Attel Abbey as a day trip from Munich in July. The DBahn website gives plenty of information on trains between Munich and G-P however I am having difficulty finding information on how to get to the abbey once we arrive in Garmisch-P. I assume there is a local bus however I cannot track down any details. Does anyone know how we can do it?
My family and I are planning to drive from Munich to Neuschwanstein castle for a day trip this July. We would like to see some smaller Bavarian towns, and are considering stopping in Obergammergau because I have read it is fairly close. Is there any Bavarian town more directly on the route to Schloss Neuschwanstein that would be worth a visit?
