Good Friday, 2013, Canterbury Cathedral and Westminster Abbey

by SandiM Online Now Jan 29, 2013 at 12:14 PM

I've looked on each of their websites but not getting a completely straight answer: what is the status of tourist visits for each of these properties for Friday March 29 2013? I'm pretty sure WA is open for visits, but CC?

Good Friday is the most solemn day in the Christian calendar, so there are special services in both places. You can expect both to be closed to general visitors during the services.

Westminster's service times for 29th here:

    westminster-abbey.org/worshi...

and opening times for the Abbey on that date:

    westminster-abbey.org/visit-...

Canterbury's service times are not yet posted on the website: you'll need to check nearer the time:

Monthly service sheet linked on canterbury-cathedral.org/eve...

Visiting will be restricted at Canterbury Cathedral over most of the Easter weekend with no Visiting at all on Good Friday.
You can find full details here -
