does anyone know of public transportation to el yunque from san juan (like a bus)? i want to get there but i don't want to go on a guided tour. any thoughts?
I don't know the answer but will warn you not to drink the water at any of the fountains in the forest. I got very, very sick that way a few years back!

Have you considered getting a rental car? The drive from San Juan to El Yunque is pretty straight forward. Public transport is not the best here in PR and I do not believe there is a bus that will take you to El YUnque. You could take a taxi, but that would be expensive.
