Any interesting stop-overs between Puerto Princesa and El Nido?

by anliz99 Online Now Jan 9, 2008 at 3:55 AM

My friends and I are going to El Nido this April and we've hired a van from Puerto Princesa. Since the trip will be long (6 hours according to the driver), are there nice and interesting places that we can do some short stop-overs? I heard Port Barton is interesting and Taytay but I'm not sure if they're along the way or what specific places to check out. Hope some of our El Nido experts can help us out. Thanks!

I heard El Nido is about 4 to 5 hours away from Port BArton making PB a good stopover point. Taking an overnight stay at Greenviews will be both pleasurable and economical. Please read my Port Barton VT pages.

hi, anliz99! i'm also contemplating on a PP - El Nido trip in the near future... a friend told me that travel time from PP - El Nido is about 9 hours... i'm interested, though, about the van rental. can you please share how much is your contract price with the driver for this particular trip? & how many are you in the group? is it exclusively for your group, or you share the van with others? thanks, clarice

Hi Clarice, Yes, I did hear that it takes about 8-9 hours if by bus. But according to the driver we talked with, it's only 6 hours if via van and during dry season (which April is). We rented it for 15k, waiting for 3 nights. There's about 5 of us in the group. And yes, it's exclusively for our group because this is our annual summer outing - bonding time :) But I will still have to finalize arrangements next week. I will actually be in PP and will meet with the driver. Hi Jane and Devs, Thanks for the suggestions! Cheers, Liza

I'm hoping to go there in February. Since my plans are up in the air, I cannot easily commit to a reservation. Is there public transit or options available upon arrival from PP to El Nido, or is prior reservation recommended?

There's public transport from PP to El Nido daily but you have to be at the area (I think it is by the Market place) early to get a good seat.

hi! i have a contact in PPC who arranged our 7D/6N PPC - El Nido vacation last october. its a lot cheaper compared to the packages being offered by hotels and travel agencies. 15K for a van to and from El Nido seems too expensive since we got ours for only 13K roundtrip. and yes it only takes around 6-8 hours travel time to el nido by land. there's really no need for stop overs if you have limited time. when we went there, we left PPC at 3am and arrived at el nido by around 10am.

I'm interested on the 7d/6n package that waters of march mentioned. can i ask for the name and number of your contact there where i can ask dozens of questions? It would really be a big help for me... thanks in advance.

THere's not much in TayTay but I would recommend Sabang. Not only for the underground river but for the location. It's a small waterfront community with AWESOME people and lots goign on.

You must go to Sabang and check out the underground river. There are busses that will take you there and lots of places to stay.
