by mpwill Online Now Jun 2, 2012 at 6:35 PM

Hi guys, i'll be in sinai for a few days late june, and then want to travel to Aswan. Is it possible to get a ferry across from the Sinai peninsular to the main land. Around Kosseir or Safage or Hurghada? Thanks for the advice.

I understand that there are infrequent ferries from Sharm to Hurghada but don;t have any first hand experience of that. Last year when we visited Egypt, we crossed over Suez at Ismailia to set our foot on Sinai. This is not a ferry service - as technically speaking only cargo services are allowed to cruise through the canal - but only a canal crossing with the help of a floating platform which takes passengers and vehicles from one side of the canal to the other every few minutes. Details of our experience here: mozumbus.blogspot.com/2012/0... So effectively you might be taking a bus from Sinai to Cairo/mainland Egypt which will cross over the canal boarding the above mentioned platform before continuing to Aswan.
