Hi I’m a bit confused with the visa situation in Egypt. I understand you don’t need one of you are going to just stay in Sharm, but we intend to take a few excursions, including a trip to the pyramids. Does anyone know if we’d need to get visas, before we travel? Thanks
You do not say where you are from but, if you are from either thee UK or US, a VOA (Visa on Arrival) is issued providing you are holding a passport valid for three months beyond the date/period you are staying as a tourist. The Visa process is very simple however, depending on amount of flights/tourists being processed, can take a while as you line up. Homer

Assuming you are from the UK, you will pay for the visa on arrival in GBP (USD for US travellers).

If you are from one of those countries which need Egypt visa (other than Sharm even) than I would strongly recommend you to get one beforehand to avoid the last moment surprise...

If Germany citizens apply for a visa in Egyptian Consulate in London he/she has to pay £12 Pounds) British citizens have to pay £15 Egyptian Government who can answer rules on Visa) Indeed you are right if your visiting Red Sea I.E Sharm you don’t need a visa for 14 days) but if travelling to Cairo then you need a visa. If you are going to Sharm first then get your visa from Egyptian Embassy or Consulate in your home country) if visit Cairo) then you will have your visa.
