Looking to find suggestions for the "Best" dining in Edinburgh...any price range.... Thanks!
There are others, but I've always enjoyed The Witchery just outside the Castle gates on the right.

I personally just happen to like the Halfway House a tiny pub with a limited but very tasty menu (some traditional Scottish dishes like Cullin Skink etc.) It is located on one of the steep lanes leading up to the Royal Mile. We always eat there when we go to Edinburgh.

Restaurant information and reviews on www.5pm.co.uk although Glasgow is easily a better place to dine. :-)

You'll find 37 suggestions on my Edinburgh pages. You'll find a huge range in terms of price and type of cuisine. The pitfalls are (1) overpriced mediocrity - still very prevalent in Scottish catering (2) tourist places - well, they're everywhere, not just EDI. If you want "Scottish" I suggest Fishers or the Doric - both on my list. Edinburgh Restaurant Tips by iaint

First reply of the Witchery right on the money, the Secret Garden is at the same venue and the Tower is similar near the National Museum. About 4 years ago we were just the wine side of £100 including wine so not cheap but the right sdide of silly expensive. There is a £15.95 lunch offer thewitchery.com/files/docume...

I'd go with the Tower as well and Oloroso used to be good but haven't been for a long while. The restaurant at the National Gallery is superb too.

A few years ago I went to a restaurant in Edinburgh called B'Est. I thought the best thing about it was the name.
