Today is 26 july 07 and iv'e just answered a question posed on the 6 sept 06.Has all interest in Dursey Island virtually stopped.I am going there in Oct.this year,hope It's still there
I guess Dursey isn't a very high-profile destination. :) But there is no point answering such old questions if the original poster never comes back to the site again :)

Dursey Island is indeed still there and you are going to love it. That whole stretch of coastline, the Beara Peninsula, has some of the most beautiful and wildest countryside in Ireland. There are also lots of other islands off the coast of west Cork. Sherkin Island or Cape Clear for example are just perfect. Have a look at my HP for some photos to whet your appetite. The last time I did the ring of Bearra, and with the intention to go to Dursey Island, it wasn't possible, because there were problems with the cable car.
