Hello, I'm possibly looking at flying to Ireland to Duncannon and the Strand Apartments. Am trying to find out best flight route. Some sights are directing me from Gatwick to Dublin and others Luton to Waterford. Also would like to know how far it is from Waterford to Duncannon and whether there is public transport or cheap taxi??
Waterford>Duncannon involves a longish trip up one side of the estuary before a crossing point is reached and then back down the other (about 30 miles), or the use of a ferry to cross the river (about 11 miles).
Dublin>Duncannon is over 100 miles.
There are some direct buses from Waterford bus station to Duncannon, taking about 55 minutes. You can find timetables and info on the Irish bus website here:
From Dublin I'd guess you'd first need a bus to Waterford (same website as above) Assuming the Waterford bus times fit with your landing times, I think Waterford is the better option. There is no bus service to the airport but taxis are available (takes about 15 mins to get to the bus station):
Taxis anywhere are rarely, if ever, 'cheap' but you can get a rough idea of fares in/from Waterford here:
