It depends on whether you are vriving or going on a bus. I did it this time last year and it takes abou seven hours but that include numerous comfort stops, a lunch break and even the conductor getting off to collect his laundry. I'm really not joking about this.
If you drive, do so in daylight hours, there are still a few "bandits" in the hills but attacks on travellers are extremely rare.
Driving will take you about four hours tops if you go over the middle, a bit longer but probbly less stress to go down the Western coast. You will love both places, I spent six months on Negros last year.
Hope this assists,
fergy.

David, don't know how long ago you were there but there are serious roadworks in the middle of the island which slows things down considerably. Seven to se3ven and a half hours is good going for a Ceres bus. I got he non - AC snd I advise the poster to, it is much more fun!
