I am travelling to Amsterdam this weekend for 3 days. I will land on the Schiphol Airport Friday night and return from Schiphol Airport on Monday night and I will be staying near Amsterdam RAI station for whole of my stay. I am travelling with my 2 year daughter.
I am planning to spend one day in Keukenhof, another day in Zaanse Schans and one day in amsterdam city vising attractions and canal trip.

Please can you suggest the best way to travel to these places from my hotel and also travel from/to airport. Is it any good taking three day pass. Will it be valid on travel to Keukenhof/Zaanse Schans

Also any other suggestions to places to see while in Amsterdam.

      All suggestions welcome

Thanks in advance for all your help

      Where to stay

      Netherlands May 21, 2013 at 7:15 AM

We are planning on spending a month in the Netherlands. Where could we rent a furnished 2 bed apartment/house. Our idea is to enjoy the culture of the country. Live like the Dutch, and be a part of their daily lives. Where would you suggest? Our budget is reasonable, but not extravagant! Must be close to a train station......we are late 50's in age and active people. Would love to hear your suggestions/comments! Thanks...

I have a somewhat complicated tourist visa issue, will I be allowed back into the Netherlands?

      Netherlands May 6, 2013 at 3:02 AM

I have a flight booked to the Netherlands tomorrow and I noticed a problem when I looked at my passport stamps...So my fiance' and I originally went to Spain for a transatlantic cruise back to the United states. We stopped in Amsterdam for a connecting flight and my passport was stamped in the Netherlands on 10/31/12. We then took our cruise from Spain and went back to the U.S. Now, on December 18th I returned to The Netherlands for vacation and at the customs desk they said that my passport was never stamped entering or leaving Spain, which made it appear like I had been in the country for that entire period. Instead of stamping my passport as entering again, they left it as it was (as if I had originally entered the country on 10/31/12.) I left the Netherlands on 2/10/13.

If you look at my passport stamps it shows only the 2 dates, entering 10/31/12 and leaving on 2/10/13. In reality I have not been in the country for the entire 90 day visa, and if you look at the stamps alone it seems as though I was there exceeding the 90 day period.

I know I will have trouble trying to get back into the Netherlands again, but I am hoping that there is a way they can look up my passport flight/travel history, or even confirm with the Royal Caribbean cruise line that I left the country and took a cruise back to the U.S. I will be staying in the Netherlands for 10 days this visit, which would still be within my 90 day period if all the confusion is cleared up. Can somebody please tell me if I will be able to enter the country still?

      COST OF LIFE

      Utrecht May 1, 2013 at 10:40 AM

      Hi,
With my wife we are planning to stay the full month of next September in Utrecht and would like to know in advance how much we might spend. We appreciate to know from a Duch person which are the prices today of the following items:
-1 liter of gasoil (for our car)
-average entrance ticket to museums ( do retired people get free or discounted tickets?)
-1 cup of coffee at your table
      -1 liter of milk
-1 usb internet key ( for my portable computer)
      -1 kg of rise
      -1kg of cooked ham
      -1 kg of fresh tomatoes
      -1 kg of apples
      -1 kg of any salade

additionally, what is the cost of a return ticket from Utrecht to Amsterdam by train and by bus.

      Thank you for your reply.

    • Masters in animation

      Amsterdam May 22, 2013 at 7:59 AM

I know this is not the place to asking about education, but I was looking to apply for a masters course in 3d animation in Amsterdam, and couldn't find any (if anyone knows of a college or uni with such courses please tell me) so instead I found such courses in the Utrecht University which means I might be moving there if I it is the next best decision. I'm obviously not choosing this in terms of university's importance but more rather to do with the location. I live in Lebanon right now, so I'm wondering in general, what life is like in Utrecht compared to life in Amsterdam?

      Camping at Duinrell

by shenwai Online Now Jun 10, 2006 at 10:13 PM

Hi, Next weekend I will be flying into Amsterdam from Singapore with my family for a 10 days family vacation in Holland and France. I am travelling with my wife and 2 kids (10 & 7 years) and have booked 3-day at Keycamp in Duinrell. This is our first trip to this part of the world. Appreciate if someone can help me with the following questions: 1. Do you have any experiences or feedback to share about the Keycamp site at Duinrell near Wassenaar? 2. I am thinking of renting a car from Airport - anything particular I should know or take care of while driving around in Holland? Later we will drive to France and then come back to fly home from Amsterdam. 3. Besides enjoying the camping and nearby parks, what are the other places worth visiting nearby - places/things that kids would enjoy? 4. Any other DOs and DONTs while vacationing in Holland? Thank you for any inputs you can share. Thanks. Regards, Shrikant

Hello, I am flying to Schiphol airport on 10.07.04 with my family for a holiday in duinrell, am I right in thinking the easiest way for us to get there is to take a train from the airport to Leiden and then probably a taxi to duinrell, does anyone know the distance from Leiden to duinrell and roughly how much a taxi would cost? we are 3 adults and 2 children. I am pretty lost on this and would appreciate a quick reply so that I know if hiring a car would be a better idea Thanks
