My question is: Is it easy to drive yourself from Dublin Airport to Galway? I am aware that there is a road through the center of Ireland from East Coast to West Coast.....However, is it easy driving in and around the Dublin Airport? Thanks!
I had to think about this! It is tricky getting to the WEST M4/N6....but not tricky in an impossible sense. Anyone who has to negotiate City traffic would find it ok. A considerable distance of the road to galway is now a dual carriageway so the time is now greatly shortened. as with most journeys on major roads in Ireland....traffic is quite busy....and some roads are suffering from not being made with heavy traffic in mind... All in all it should be a good experience. Good Luck!

PFrankH is right, getting around anywhere in Ireland can be tricky! My advice would be to study a map carefully before setting out, perhaps even writing out your route briefly in big letters to have near you. It will make it easier to recognize exits, routes, etc. As I recall, if you miss your exit on the main highway out of the Airport, it is quite a while before you can turn around. I'm glad to hear most of the way to Galway is dual. Just remember that the parts that aren't are only going to be two lane, narrow little bits and the Irish can be pretty wild on the roads. Give yourself lots of time! I don't know if you've ever driven in Ireland before, but a trip will practically always take longer than you planned. And it's very easy to get lost. Having said all that, I am Irish and lived there for a long time. It's definitely one of MY favourite places!! Good luck! becksrevenge
