I'm trying to work out how to get to Dubai from Abu Dhabi airport. I know there's the free Etihad coach (I am returning to AD from Dubai this way when I return to Melbourne) but my arrival is with Royal Jordanian from Amman. Seems I can use the Etihad coach for 75 AED but cannot find a place online to book (I can phone internationally) or if there is an alternative other than taxis? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
As you are not travelling by Etihad, so you can avail their coach service by paying AED 75. It is not possible to book it online but, you can book the service either through an Etihad Airways office or through a local travel agent. You can contact Etihad Airways office in your country, location of office is give in their Contact us link. or, you can write an email to them, you will def get reply from Etihad. Please note that its better to book this service in advance but you can book it at AUH airport also. This is the best way to go to Dubai from Abu Dhabi airport other option is of Taxi which charge around AED 250.

Thanks. Considering so beautifully easy booking the return from Dubai as I am flying with Etihad I thought I was being plain dumb not being able to simply book online and pay the 75 AED in advance.

I will give 3rd option To get to Dubai from Abu Dhabi Go to Abu Dhabi Bus station – there are bus going to Dubai which cost 30 AED is clean and cheap way to travel to Dubai. The last bus I think it leaves at 10pm to Dubai. Just ask taxi driver to take to bus station. When pass immigration customs and depends what you land – if land in the morning say 2 am bus station is closed & if land at 11.30 pm I think best station is closed – but if land between 7am – 11.30pm I think you will be able to get a bus to Dubai. I hope my information helps.

Thanks for this. I have just returned home and posting this for anyone else that might read the post. If you arrive in Abu Dhabi with Etihad and want to transfer to Dubai, it's not a problem with the bus. If you arrive in Abu Dhabi not with Etihad and want to transfer to Dubai, options are to buy in advance at home (best option) or from Etihad Offices at the airport on the 1st (2nd floor for US) floor. It can take a while if you want to buy this way. I was able to use the bus without charge as I had a flight out of AD with Etihad 3 days later even though I arrived with Royal Jordanian.
