Going to Dubai in November.

by hirarose Online Now Jun 4, 2012 at 12:46 AM

I will be making a stopover at Dubai for 3 days with my family. I will want to stay in a Budget hotel since we will be out most of the time. Can anyone recommend which is the best budget hotel to stay in? I want the hotel to be near some shopping halls and places of interest. How do I get around Dubai as well. For example, if I need to get to the Dubai Mall from my hotel, how do I do that? Is there any guide or a website online or something where I can find my exact way?

Hi, To start with there are two budget hotels at the airport itself: Premier Inn, and Holiday Express. The Premier Inn offers lockers, and a rooftop pool, with views toward the city including Burj Khalifa. Emirates Mall is beside the airport (not to be confused with Mall of the Emirates, which is past Dubai Mall!) But for convewnience you may prefer a hotel near the creek & metro stations plus malls. Deira or Bur Dubai are good areas. In Deira there is Flora Creek Apartments, next to Deira Mall. In Bur Dubai there is Savoy Crest. I highly rate the latter, with great service, nice big rooftop swimming pool, steam & sauna rooms, gym, etc. 5 min walk to Burjuman Mall, and Khalid bin Al waleed metro. To get around just take the metro to Dubai Mall! A one-day unlimited pass covering all zones only costs 14 AED. This will cover a journey as far as Ibn Battuta Mall - interesting design with different Empire themes, eg Persian, Egyptian, Indian, etc. Taxis are plentiful and very economical, and a ride from the creek to Dubai Mall costs around 35 AED.

Getting around Dubai is much easier now that it has 2 metro lines. on the red line you can get to Ibn Battuta shopping mall, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Marina, Dubai Mall and Burj Kalhife (needs shuttle bus, too). On the green line you can get to the creek, gold souk, fish souk, vegetable souk, perfume souk, spice souk, Shingdaga Waterfont Heritage Area and the Wafi shopping mall. Once on the creek you can use abra (public boats)to get to the other side. If you want to see the Burj Arab Hotel, Wild Wadi Waterpark, Jumeriah Beach or JumeriahMadinat use number 8 bus from the Gold Souk bus station or taxi.

HI from Dubai :-) "places of interest" and "shopping malls" are spread all across Dubai, but I would suggest staying somewhere central so you are not too far from Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, and also the historic part of the city: Bur Dubai (= old Dubai) along the Dubai creek with the textile, gold and spice market. There are various budget hotels... try the Holiday Inn Express at Safa Park, for example. hiexpress.com/hotels/us/en/d... Getting around Dubai is very easy with the Metro, or by taxi, which are very cheap. Copy & paste this link into your browser for some transportation tips on Dubai: Dubai Transportation Tips by JessH

Hi, welcome to VT. The others have given good advice, I'll just add that there's a huge amount of info on our pages here on VT - what to see and do, the different public transport options, hotels, places to eat etc. Just click on our names to go to our pages and then follow the links to the Dubai info.

The Ibis Hotel Dubai Mall of the Emirates, as the name says is located near the MoE, that houses the famous Ski Dubai, the snowdrome in the desert. This is a nice no-frills hotel with prices that are very competitive. It is close to a Dubai Metro station that you can use to travel internally in Dubai quickly, efficiently and at a low cost. The MoE itself has a multitude of dining options to keep you sufficiently stuffed! All in all this is a great place to put up at. Enjoy!

When I first came to Dubai I was accommodated in Bur Dubai. This area is the old part of Dubai, it has all the traditional souks and the new shopping mall Burjaman. I stayed in Golden Sands(clean and cheap) it is walking distance to metro station which you can take to almost every shopping mall in dubai (and of course dubai mall), it will cost you around 3 dirhams for 1 trip (maximum 1 dollar), also near by a lot of restaurants but i used to walk to spinneys to get my stuff and cook in my room, they have this small equipped kitchen. if you need guidance to routes let me know . good luck
