Breakfast in Dubai

by Rezonance Online Now Mar 28, 2011 at 5:31 AM

Could anyone please recommend places for breakfast in Dubai? Also, is there such a thing as a traditional Arabian breakfast? If so, any suggestions on where to find/try it?

HI from Dubai :-) Hmmm, can't really think of a "typical Arabian breakfast" right now... but if you tell us which area of Dubai you'll be staying in, we can recommend some nice breakfast places!

As Jess said, let us know where you'll be staying. Also the kind of breakfast you mean - you can have a huge buffet in a hotel or just a croissant and coffee in a coffee shop.

Well I also can not think of what sort of breakfast you’re looking for. If you give VT members an idea i.e. European breakfast or Arabian breakfast that would help. Dan30

In a hotel you can order the following which is a Traditional MiddleEastern Arabic Breakfast: Arabic tea or/and Arabic coffee (called qahwa) -Labneh drizzled with olive oil or plain thick Arabic yogurt. -A little plate of olives black and/or green -Zaatar mixed with olive oil (a spice mix) -Arabic flat bread (sometimes called Lebanese bread) -Feta cheese or some may call it "white cheese" drizzled with olive oil. -A plate of vegetables (cucumber, tomatoes, radish, peppers and parsley )

When I say local breakfast I mean things like Bajella, khameer, Balaleet, Regag and Dangaw. this stuff you'll find in Shandagha area and you be able to eat it at night also when the weather is more pleasant.

Thank you all for your replies. Apologies for not being very clear in my question. We are staying in the Al Barsha area and have chosen not to have breakfast at our hotel in order to try other places. As we're staying for a week we'd like a combination of traditional and western breakfast options. Cafés, restaurants, hotels - whatever you consider worth a try.

Although what you are saying is some what true, it is not accurate. It is like saying typical Indian breakfast. India is a big country and what is typical in Bombay might not be so typical else where, Same thing in the UAE, it is an Arabic country but our local typical breakfast has nothing to do with what a Lebanese, Syrian or an Egyptian will have for breakfast. Typical local breakfast has nothing to do with what you have mentioned. Nothing what so ever.

Oh boy i had a bad day and just recently returned to Vt to find this .... not in the mood for arguments ....... Hi, To the original poster Arabic Breakfast on the menu of these restaurants is a set meal/ combo platter of all the fare that is known to be Arabic universally , as you would find say in the breakfast buffet of any hotel in egypt, syria , jordan ,lebanon ,gulf .... or in homes (even gulf people adapted to it ) foul, labneh ,olives, eggs, falafel hummus ,pita bread ,white cheese..etc. Traditional Arabic means the same with certain items more relevant or common to a country than another .Traditional Arabic as in Emirates specific type of breads , boiled fava , chick peas & sweet dumplings then it`s only available in their homes and the cultural fares ,heritage village in shindaga ..don~t think you need to make an effort looking for it as you won`t be missing much . Woooooohoooo ...did i just write...a thesis on breakfast. BYE Dubai forum .
