Are you sure that you'll be at Dortmund?

    arcadia-hotel.de/castrop-rau...

"The Arcadia Hotel Schloss Goldschmieding is a 4 star hotel, situated in a romantic and idyllic park close to the old town of Castrop-Rauxel."

The adress is "Dortmunder Str. 55, Castrop-Rauxel". A town bordering Dortmund to the north-west.

I don't think Dortmund is a particular interesting place, unless you are interested in football or industrial heritage. You might want to make a day trip to nearby Cologne. If you ARE interested in football or industrial heritage, check out the Borussia Dortmund stadium or take a trip to Zollverein industrial complex in nearby Essen.

Just follow the Dortmunder Strasse. Leads directly to the old town. 10-15 min to walk.

Cologne is all about the Cathedral. It's right by the train station and it's probably the most impressive building in Germany. It's certainly Germany's most visited attraction. You can check how to get from your hotel to Cologne on die bahn website:

    Hi Antistar
Is there a ticket counter at the train station for me to buy a ticket without doing the online booking? I saw the online booking is more for local people within Germany...

You can buy a ticket to Cologne (Köln) online.

    DB timetable

    reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/qu...

    Start (x) Address: Castrop-Rauxel, Dortmunder Str. 55

    Destination (x) Station/Stop: Köln Hbf

and select as means of transport "only local transport".

NRW-fare tickets are zone-to-zone local public transport tickets. They cover regional trains, but also the buses in Castrop-Rauxel. And the trams and buses in Cologne.

For a one day return trip a day ticket will be the better deal. This ticket is called "SchönerTagTicket Nordrhein-Westfalen-Single" and is EUR 28,50. Covers all local public transport in Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia). Is however on weekdays only valid past 9am.

    bahn.com/i/view/GBR/en/price...

Go to the Nordrhein-Westfalen section and there on "-> Book your ticket here".

Absolutely. There are also electronic ticket machines which you can use, which have an English option if you need it. I wasn't aware of a problem buying online from abroad. You can print the tickets yourself if they won't send them to you,.
