ATM or Debit card is easy to use. Debit card is usually a less expensive way to get euros. You can buy them at most US banks. Just ask for the form to fill out and they mail them to you. We just wait until we're there and get them at an ATM. We usually have a few left over from the previous trip. The first couple times we got euros from our bank with no problem. (Don't get too much because they charge you for the privilege.)

Telephone your credit card and debit card companies and tell them you will be in Ireland and give the dates. Some companies won't honor the cards when they are used in unusual places because they suspect your card has been stolen and someone is having fun at your expense. If you tell them where you'll be, you won't have any problems.

    Enjoy your trip.

If you are staying in Doolin remember there are no banks there. The nearest band is in Eniskymon (7 miles from Doolin)
