I don't get to travel often but will be in Doha a few days. What is the advised and cheapest way to exchange money, or access my american accounts. I do not have AE. Also, a cell phone would be convenient while there. Any information on cost and ease of a prepaid phone that can be rented or purchased there would be helpful. Thank you!

      Recommendations for Tour Operators?

by DaveSamaroo Online Now Jun 24, 2009 at 12:27 PM

Dear all: a few in the forum seem to have this problem but haven't yet seen an answer addressing it. I have two days free next week (July 1st & 2nd) in Doha and am thinking of doing an organized tour of the city and one to the inland sea. Is there any tour operator you can recommend that would do this with one person e.g. collect a number of visitors together for a tour? Do you know if the hotels typically organize this? Hotel websites did not say anything on this. Thanks

I'm a Canadian Citizen wishing to go on a visit to Doha, Qatar. Do I need hotel voucher?

by ruviagsalud Online Now May 9, 2009 at 4:08 PM

I'm a Canadian citizen wishing to visit Doha, Qatar to visit a friend that works there. I have looked into the requirements of obtaining a visit visa to Qatar and I am getting mixed comments or information on what is required. The information that I'm getting is making me more confused rather than making it clear to me what I need to do and what I have to bring. I was told that I needed to get a hotel reservation certificate from a known hotel in Doha from some people and getting a different answer from other people and websites regarding visit visa requirements in Qatar. I don't really need a means of accommodation because my friend has a flat that has 3 bedrooms and shares with other expats there as well. So my question is, "Do I really need to have a hotel reservation in Doha to be able to be granted a visit visa in Qatar and how long will my visit visa last?" This would help my trip go a lot smoother if I find out what I really need to do. Thank in advance for all the comments that I'll get. Have a good day everyone. CHEERS!

    • About Qatar Palace Hotel ... or other recommendations on budget/low-priced hotels in Doha?

by mishyq Online Now Nov 19, 2008 at 7:48 AM

Hi, I will be in Doha in Dec 13-15, 2008 and am trying to look for accomdation now. One of the (budget - presumably those costing USD150) hotels lonely planet recommended is Qatar Palace Hotel, 44 Al Asmakh St. Their website was given as www.qatarpal.com.qa, however the link doesnt seem to work anymore. So I was just wondering if anyone has been to Doha lately and had actually stayed at the hotel and what do they think of it. The information and reviews on it is so sparse (i cant even find a single picture of Qatar Palace Hotel online!) I am concerned as i am a single woman traveller and would not like to end up not finding the hotel exist anymore there. Also, my budget for hotel stay would preferably be something costing around USD150 or less or stretching a bit (200), and at somewhere central (ie walkable to Corniche or Souk). Can anyone provide suggestions? Another hotel i had in mind is Al Mourouj Inn (located at Old Salatah Museum Street Behind National Museum, Doha, Qatar) Thanks!

Would this be possible? Would I need a transit visa on a British Passport? And if a transit is possible, how long is the journey into the city from the airport? Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
