by goncalvesfj Online Now Apr 28, 2011 at 6:40 AM

Hi everyone!!! I will marry in September(portuguese passport) and my girlfriend (Polish passport) would like to travel from Barcelona to Bangoko or KL through Doha with Qatar Airways. I am aware as Portuguese citizen that can obtain a Visa if necessary at airport however my polish girlfriend is not so easy. I have 3 questions: In case that the transfer flight take s for example 6 -8 hours do we need a visa just to stay in airport? In case that we have a long waiting time can we get a transit visa because i would like to see the city, is it possible? If i need it, where can i get it??? Hope you will be able to help me... THANK YOU!!!

IATA information: Transit - Qatar (QA) Nationality Portugal TWOV (Transit Without Visa): Those continuing within 8 hours to a third country by the same or first connecting aircraft, provided: - holding tickets with reserved seats; and - all documents required for their onward journey. Passengers may not leave the transit lounge. If transit time exceeds 8 hours and passenger wants to leave the airport, a prearranged STPC (24 hour) visa issued by the airline is required, which will be subject to immigration approval. Last january I got the 24 hours transit visa and it was pretty fast. I should have waited 12 hours for my next flight. I suggest you to ask as soon as you arrive at the airport,(not during the flight as staff there gave total wrong answers). Once you get out of the flight you take a bus which stops in two different terminals, the first one is for the transit, the second one is for arrivals, I asked at the airport staff in the transit terminal if I could go out of the airport and they simply said yes as long as I paid the visa(about 30 euro if I remeber well) so I went to the arrival terminal and got asked only for passport and credit card to pay the visa, noone asked me how long the transit was. The transit terminal in Doha is really small, so if you have to stay there more than 4 hours, I'd advice you to ask to go out if possible. Corra

But my question is if we stay for example more tahn 8 hours will a citizen from poland be able to get that transit visa even paying30, it seems that there isn“t a problem with portuguese Passport but a few restrictions to Polish Passport.
