I lived in Djibouti a long time back; as of 35 yrs ago the wildlife was almost exclusively in the mountain regions South and South West of Djibouti Ville. I worked as an aide to a French scientist responsible for collecting data on the wildlife of the country...then called Le Territoire Francaise des Afar et des Issas. Wish my brain could hold on to more specific answers than this...but it has been 35 yrs! Wildlife: various species of small monkeys BABOONS - crazy mean freaks...attacked our Landrover while driving small cheetah prides small lion prides various antelope & the like birds - huge variety; from ocean to desert species lots of "ground-dwellers"; one's like a meerkat huge locusts; population explodes every couple of decades some snakes; but I never saw any and a big poisinous spider; sort of like a tarantula Nothing of any huge grand proportion, like elephants or giraffes, but what there is in the mountain forests, IS beautiful.
