June weather in Dinosaur Provincial Park

by Beckyloutx2 Online Now May 4, 2009 at 4:59 PM

We have reservations to camp in Dinosaur Provincial Park June 12-13. Can anyone tell me how cold it will be at night?

Any hints or ideas for exploring the park would also be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

June should be quite warm in the daytime...perhaps 25-30C with extremes of 35-40C.

As for the evenings, it could cool down to 10-15C. The area is usually quite dry too so not much chance of rain.

There are two major sections of the Badlands...Dinosaur Provincial Park headquarters near Drumheller and further down the Red Deer River near Brooks and Duchess where the Tyrell Museum Field Station is is. Both are spectacular.

Try to reserve a spot on the tour bus, it will take you to the best areas of the fossil digs.

Definitely spend some time in Drumheller. You really only need one full day. The Royal Tyrell Museum is a must-see for everyone, in my opinion! The Atlas Coal Mine is also really cool and a good look at the more modern (not dino!) history of the area. You can also check out the World's Largest Dinosaur, The Little Church, and a sweet mini-golf course. And of course the Badlands and the Hoodoos. There is so much to do in the area, I love it! Check out my pages for more info.
