    • Which route to take?

Sault Ste. Marie Apr 25, 2013 at 3:18 PM

Hi, I will be driving from Madison Wisconsin to Niagara Falls in June and will be crossing the border at Sault Ste Marie. I would really appreciate some advice on the following: For an overnight stay which would you recommend, the usa or ontario side of the border? What route would you recommend for the onward journey? Is there a route that includes a car ferry crossing? 13 years ago I did a long drive around the great lakes and I remember taking a car ferry but cannot remember where from or where it arrived (across part of lake huron maybe?) I do remember really enjoying that ferry trip though and would love to find it again to enjoy with my children. I seem to recall spending a few hours on a lovely beach after the ferry crossing. Any clues and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

      DTW Airport Process

by DarleneCMF Online Now Oct 26, 2010 at 8:55 AM

Hi, I will be arriving at DTW on an international flight and only have 1 hr 20 min to my connecting flight. Is this enough time to go through immigration and check-in to my next flight? In LAX, you have to claim your luggage and check it again to the connecting flight. Does DTW have the same rules? Any airport tips on how to save time would be appreciated. Btw, I have Delta flights.

by SSobyaOwais Online Now Oct 8, 2010 at 9:30 AM

Hi, I'm travelling to Detroit for the first time for an interview. My interview's at a building on Moross Road. They've recommended a few hotels in Roseville, most of which are 10-15 mins away from the info I've been sent. I was wondering what the best way would be to get from DTW airport to this area? What if I took a cab? How much would that cost me? I'm not too keen on the idea of renting a car since I'm flying back the very next day. And any feedback of any of the hotels in the Roseville area would be great too. Thanks.

My friend and I will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Detroit for the Lions/Eagles game in September. I was hoping I could get some advice on places in the downtown area to visit, bars, clubs, restaurants, any other areas of interest. Also, how safe is walking in the downtown area? Would it be dumb to walk at night? (we are both guys) Thanks so much for any replies!

I want to visit Detroit for a long weekend some time in summer 2010, I want to see MCS before the city destroys it or it gets a major renovation. Is there any work scheduled for demolition or renovation before September 2010? Do alot of people go there to take a look? Is the area around MCS safe for visitors that want to take pictures of the exterior of the building? When is the best time of day to check it out? Are there any public or private tours of the interior of MCS? Your response would be greatly appreciated, Thank You!

Do alot of shady people hang out on the island?, like thugs, homeless people & drug addicts? Is there a certain area of the island that is best to avoid? Is there public pay phones by the Jefferson Ave. E. & Grand Blvd. E. area or on the island?

I'd love either reallly good fish, or a really excellent chicken Caesar Salad...I'm following a low carb diet (pre-diabetic) and can't eat milk/cream but can do cheese. Thanks j

      Detroit Airport Restaurants?

by Marianne2 Online Now Feb 11, 2008 at 2:09 PM

Hi, On Wednesday, I'm flying back east on Northwest (not my nomal carrier), and have a several-hour layover at the Detroit Airport. I'd like to get a nice meal, glass of wine, etc. at one of the better restaurants. I printed out the airport website, but the restaurants are just unknown names to me. One Vt-er recommends the Grey Goose Martini Lounge or Sora Sushi Bar. Do you have any other suggestions in addition? I like gourmet food of any type, but do not like American chain-restaurants. Suggestions are most welcome and thank you!

      Where to go for???

by Catpurring Online Now Oct 28, 2007 at 11:05 PM

I am leading a bus tour (54 Seniors) down to Detroit, mainly for shopping in Auburn Hills. But we will want to spend some time in Detroit, so my questions are: What special restaurant should we not miss (like Tavern on the Green in New York)? Is there a good spot for brunch? Do any of the jazz clubs have a Sunday Matinee or an early show starting before 8:00pm. Where does one go for Motown music, again early? Any hidden gems that only some people know about. Any good restaurants in Auburn Hills? Thanks for all your answers, Cheers Catpurring
