We are hoping to stay in Derbyshire for a vacation. Question: The bus service from Victoria Station to Chesterfield, Times? Returning times back to London ? Would we be able to take 3 pieces of luggage on the bus?

www.nationalexpress.com will give you the timetables, fares and details (use the 'click here to choose from a list of our most popular destinations' link to search). There are several coaches (we use 'coach' rather than 'bus' for this type of vehicle), taking around 4 to 6 hours, depending on times. Standard return is 24.50 GBP.

You can take 2 pieces of luggage each, plus hand luggage. The 'luggage' link is in grey, right at the bottom of the homepage, and details what you can and can't take.

The train would be quicker, and less prone to delay, although more expensive. Worth checking out, though it will be a bit more expensive; use www.nationalrail.co.uk to find train times and fares.
