Hi My husband and I would like to travel to Abidjan next month and then go to Abengourou, but we hear that it is not safe. Is the State Department correct about civil unrest in Abidjan or is it overrated? Please answer the post because we must make a decision very soon. Any information you can provide about the area or a place to live when we get there would be wonderful. My husband and I currently live in Seattle, Washington so if there is anyone local that we could talk with it that would be wonderful. Thank you, Gail and Sidiki Ouattara
Cote D Ivoire has not had elections since 2002. Abidjan, the Capital is in the south, and Gov. cntroled. The north is Rebel controled. Elections are to take place on Nov. 29. MUST have visa before arrival. Not avai;able at airport.
