Some travel books say that the night bus from Nazca to Arequipa is not safe: both with the number of road accidents and robberies and assaults. Can you please give an advise on how big a probvlem it is this year. We plan our travel in July, and taking a night bus is reasonable in terms of our root: Lima - Nazca-Arequipa-Puno-Cusco-Lima, but may be we shoold reconsider.
Well buses crashing are on the rise in Peru. Cruz del sur bus seems to be the most expensive but more secure. Otherwise, fly from lima to arequipa then day bus from puno to cusco.

We didn't travel from Nazca to Arequipa, rather Arequipa to Lima. Cruz del Sur was by far the best and safest bus. We didn't feel threatened one little bit. They film everyone on the bus and scan bags. Here is our blog for the trip. jkadventures.wordpress.com/2...
