I'm going to be in Denver for a conference for 4 days (3 nights) in a few weeks. Anything worth seeing that will be available in the evenings?
Denver has very a fairly good nightlife. The LoDo area, roughly around Blake Street to the northwest of Downtown. There are also often special events going on Downtown, like art crawls or festivals. You'll need to plug in your dates for these. Westword (Denver's local indie weekly) has a good calendar: westword.com/calendar/?ref=n...

I grew up there and also lived there when I retired. Here is a short list of things. Red Rocks, just on the edge of the mountains at Morrison. There are also summer concerts there, so go online and see if there will be one when you are there. Coor's Brewery in Golden, gives free tours and tasting at the end. If you have children, Denver has a good zoo. Buckhorn Exchange... probably the oldest restaurant in Colorado. Covered with interesting things to look at while you eat. Downtown Denver Train Museum in Golden... lots of old steam engines, cars, and such..worth a look Drive up to Rocky Mountain National Park and spend a day, do a picnic and see the animals. It is north of Denver about 1 1/2 to the park gate. If you want to know more, I have a page on Denver with tips, etc. Have fun, Dave

One of the things Denver does best is beer - I'd suggest you check out some of the local brewpubs, breweries and taphouses. Breweries: Great Divide, River North, Renegade, Denver Beer Co, Strange, Wynkoop. Avoid the chains like Chophouse and Rock Bottom. Taphouses: Star Bar, Amato's (best rooftop patio in town), Rackhouse Pub (at the Stranahan's distillery), Freshcraft, Euclid Hall. Falling Rock has the best selection but the service can be very rude so I avoid it. Stay away from Yard House, it's a chain with a lot of taps but little of interest.

Fantastic reply: Yes, avoid Yard House. Great Divide: if you want big, incomparable beers. There's also Breckenride down there.

Thanks! I think I'll check out the Great Divide tour. Seems right up my alley.

I went to the Great Divide brewery! The beer was good and the tour interesting, if fairly short. Thanks for all the recommendations.
