Road trip tips and suggestions? Mostly Denmark, and maybe southern Sweden.

by CarolineVB Online Now Mar 15, 2013 at 12:44 PM

Hey!

We're a small group of girls (18-19 years old) who are planing a road trip this summer (end of July to the middle of August). We are driving from Norway to either Sweden then Denmark, or just Denmark. We are interested in festivals, amusement parks, beautiful scenic sites/roads, surfing and fun stuff to do. Also tips on places to stay/camp/hostels are much appreciated. Also average costs for campsites, ferries, etc.

    Hi girls,
If you sail across from Varberg in Sweeden to Grenaa in Denmark you will land on "the ip of the nose" of Jutland - the peninsula called Djursland. Djursland has very beautiful landscapes and wonderful beaches all the way round. I would suggest you stay for a day or two in Ebeltoft which is an old and very cosy little town at the coast with good shopping and both campsites and hostels to stay in - check on the intenet. Not far from Ebeltoft you can find the big amusement park "Djurs Sommerland" - it is considered to be one of the very best parks in Denmark.
If you then move on, you should go to Aarhus which is a big town with offers of many kinds. A big and famous Open Air Musuem called "Den Gamle By", a big arts museum called "AroS", maybe open air concerts/festivals (depending on the actual dates you visit he town, but you can check that on the internet).
If you want the best and wildest beach of Denmark, you should visit the west coast. In almost direct line (according to roads) across Jutland from Aarhus you can go for Søndervig which is a popular place for tourists ith shops, discos and restaurants - many people. Close by you can find many aprts of the beach that are not crowded at all, but if you are looking for fun and other young people, Søndervig could be the place. Another place thats probably even hotter in hat sense is Løkken which is up north in Jutland. Here a lot of young people go in the summer to party day and night and enjoy the beach. That might be a good choice for you if you then would consider to sail back to Norway either from Hanstholm or Frederikshavn.
Have a fun trip - and feel free to ask for more if you like! :-)

You could go to Grøn Koncert (Green Concert) in Copenhagen, 28th july.

Many popular danish artists will play: Lucas Graham, Mads Langer, Medina, Carpark North, Nik & Jay and a couple more.

I would go a single day to Roskilde Habor (There's a hostel at the habor). You can see some beautiful old houses, walk along the coast and see the Cathedral. I would then drive to Køge, and continue further south on the small roads until you meet Stevns Klint, which is very beautiful and unique.

Northern Zealand is really beautiful during summer. Hillerød and Helsingør have some pretty castles and the northern shore has some great beaches (Tisvilde and Gilleleje). There's some great walks in the forest in Tisvilde.
