Hello All,
I am visting Delhi at the end of the month and staying at Radisson Blu Plaza. Any idea how far to the shopping areas for clothes, souveniers, music etc. Are the local markets more easier to shop than the huge shopping malls? How is transporation around that area? Any one can recommend a good driver would be appreciated. Thank you guys/gals!
Hi, On Saturday our taxi driver was asked to take us to Cottage Industries on Jan Path. He said he knew it well. He took us to a smallish shop, 2 floors, next door to the Deutsche Bank, which had a Cottage Industries sign. Checking on Google now, I see that the real Cottage Industries is a much bigger complex, further south on Jan Path (corner of Tolstoy). Can anyone tell me more about the little shop next door to Deutsche Bank (near Connaught Circus)? Is it a regular scam? I do remember that we could not drive up Jan Path because of Metro construction work. Does this construction block access to the real Cottage Industries and give the taxi driver a valid excuse? (The taxi company is known and used by my host in Delhi - we were there on business. I want to give feedback to my host company who hired the taxi for us)

Hello fellow forummers! :) My travel partner and I will be visiting India for the first time in November for 9 days and whilst planning, we have some questions which I would be grateful for some advice: 1. So, we will be flying via Jet Airways into Delhi. I read that New Delhi really is part of Delhi. Is this distinction important in my planning as it seems a little confusing for a newbie. 2. We do not have a fixed itinerary yet, just tentatively the golden triangle. Is that a good initiation into India or should we do something different? We are hoping to do something slightly off the beaten path, not just the usual touristy places, yet not something that may be dangerous. 3. If you would recommend the golden triangle, how many days should we stay at each city? 3 days each at Delhi, Jaipur and Agra? Should we get out of Delhi straightaway and leave it for the last part of our trip since we are flying out from Delhi or should we cover it for the start leg of our journey? 4. Do we have to book the train tickets in advance from in our home country or can it wait till we arrive India? 5. I was told that the non-aircon trains, where the locals actually hang from the outside of the train, are quite an Indian adventure to experience. What are your comments on this? Thanks a lot!
we're going to be in Delhi for 4 nights from 04/11/12 and are thinking of staying at the Bloomrooms hotel in Jangpura. Has anyone stayed there? or what's the area like, we have stayed in Karol barg area before and really liked it. If any one has a suggestion for cheap (upto USD80 p/night) and funky hotel let us know!
Hello, I am trying to book a train ticket on the Indian Rail website and make my trip , but it appears that I first need to sign in, but it asks for an Indian mobile number, which I do not have. Is there any way to book online? I am trying to get train tickets from New Delhi to Chandigarh. thank you!
Hi. My wife and I will be in Delhi late November for 3 nights. Any suggestions for places to stop about the £25 price band. We would like a lively area we love people watching. Where are the best bars to have a beer outside and chill. Cheers Sean
Having a dilemma on whether to take a bus or train to Agra (Taj Mahal). Which one is quicker and more comfortable (must be airconditioned!) from New Delhi? Thanks in advance.
Checked out the weather there and it's scorching! What's the average daily or hourly fare for a prepaid aircon car/taxi in Delhi? Is the Metro subway system there able to cope with the heatwave?
posted prematurely! Sorry... which is the closest Metro station? Thanks, Chris

Hello everybody! I am traveling to India quite soon, and unfortunatelly I am only spending 1 day in Delhi :-( I am looking for a very good tourist guide, for him to make this day count, and who could show me as much as possible / the main interest points in New and Old Delhi. If he/she speaks spanish would be a plus :-) but english is fine too. If you know somebody or any tourist agency I could ask for help, please let me know! Many thanx!!! Hi. Just found out that my trip to India coincides with England Cricket games and the Formula One at the end of October. Questions are how easy is it to buy tickets for the cricket in New Delhi whilst I am there, or should I buy in advance? Same goes for Mumbai actually, as I intend to go there as well. For the Grand Prix, it's in Noida apparently. anyone know how I could get there from Pahar Ganj? Cheers Ally
Hi, I have a long series of trips planned for early 2012 - mainly I want to go from Bangkok to Kathmandu in Feb 2012. I've found cheap flights with Air India via Delhi, which is why I'm posting in this forum. The flights are Bangkok to Delhi to Kathmandu return, and they are200 cheaper than any other flight I've found. My concern is that the stopover in Delhi is only 1.5 hours - and since the flight numbers between these two sections are different I am wondering if this is enough time. Usually I would like at least 2 hours to change international flights. Does Air India do this regularly? I'd love to fly with them, but I would also love to make my flight. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Regards, Leon
Hi Everyone, I'm an ABCD who's interested in traveling a bit around Delhi and Rajasthan for about 10 days somewhere between June 22nd and July 7th. I have family in South India and have traveled to the B'lore/Mangalore area numerous times but have never made it up north. This time around, I'd like to get some sightseeing done around Delhi, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Jaipur and Udaipur. Is there an organized tour company that you can recommend where I can travel with others? I've seen a lot of recommendations on here for guides/drivers and car, but haven't come across pre-organized group tours. I did a 2 week tour of South India a few years ago with a tour company that schlepped us around on a bus all over South India and organized all the outings, meals and hotels. I'm looking for something like that. (Except this time, I'll be sure to ask what hotels and restaurants we'll be staying and eating at. O_o) My cousins have recommended a bunch, but they tend to be outgoing, gregarious travelers whereas I'm more the stare-out-the-window-write-in-a-book sort of traveler. (If I had been asked to play anthakshari one more time on the bus on my South India trip - ;p) I'm looking for a tour where there's safety in numbers and where they arrange the hotel, food and sightseeing for around Delhi and Rajasthan. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Hi! I'm planning about 10 days trip to India during September. I'd like to go to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Varanasi. But I don't have a specific plan. So I'd like to know the good places to see, and methods of transportation from one place to another in India and required time of transport. If you have a 10 days plan you recommend, please tell me!!
Hello, I'm planning to visit India from approximately September the 10th - October the 5th. The basic plan is Delhi - Agra - Jaipur -a bit aroung in Rajasthan - then towards south by train - flying back to Europe from Mumbai. Back-pack, not necessarily the cheapest possible way but not much higher. We are students, both girls, we've been travelling before, but before we buy our tickets I'd like to ask the travellers who've been in this part of India what do you think about this idea? We've heard a lot of good things but also some very bad experiences and an advice rather to travel somewhere else for the safety issue... Thanks for shared thoughts and experiences..!
