Hello, I will be relocating to Dayton. I have never been out of California. I am looking for outdoor activities for myself and my kids. Also interested in finding out if the city has a parks and recreation dept. I would like to take some classes that interest me like sewing, etc to get to meet people in the area. Any suggestions?
Best of luck to you! We left California for the Midwest back in 2003 and love it! It is so inexpensive and the people are very friendly.

The Dayton area has several nice parks for hiking and other activities. Many of them are managed by the Five Rivers Metro Parks organization. You might want to check out their website at http://www.metroparks.org. Also the south suburb of Centerville (and Washington Township) has some nice parks. You can check out their website at http://cwpd.org. Also for other activities, many communities have local YMCAs that offer classes that may be of interest. Hope this helps. -Gary
