Hi, Does anyone know whether I can go directly to Sandakphu by car/jeep and start my trek there to Phalut? Or do I really have to start in Maneybhanjang? Thanks!

Hi I have rec. wonderful responses regarding Darjeeling already. Is a side trip for a day outside Darjeeling feasible if our stay is now 3 days. The toy train and Tiger view is on our itinerary at preent... Accomodation at a hotel offering good service is a priority? Suggestions welcomed please/central location.. thanks

Hi, We are planning to be in Darjeeling for Mid-December and we are looking for decent and warm hotels - About Rs.2000 a night or so. We have looked at quite few in this range, but not sure if its warm enough and if they actually let us have a log fire. Warmth is a big criteria and cannot afford the Windamere or Mayfair unfortunately... TIA

Hello all, we'll be visiting Darjeeling soon and have shortlisted the Dekeling Resort at Hawk's Nest. But we've found out that the taxi will take us to the base road only and then there's a steep uphill climb to get to the hotel! this makes us a little apprehensive especially with luggage and all. Can someone throw some light on this or post a photograph? This would be great help. Thanks-

Hi there, I'm thinking about travelling to Darjiling to view the total solar eclipse on the 22nd July, but have realised that this is at the start of the monsoon season. What's the general pattern of weather at this time of year? The eclipse is due to be happening early in the morning, I believe - from around 5.30am to 7.30am. Thanks in advance!

We are thinking of going to Darjeeling after a trip to Bhutan. I'm wondering how long a drive from Paro or Phuntsholing Bhutan to Darjeeling? Also, looking at nicer hotels, it seems the 2 best are the Mayfair and the Windamere. Is one better than the other or are they similar in standards, etc. Thanks!

Hi, I'm planning a trip to Darjeeling in November, 2008 and need help in finding a budget/cheap hotel. I would also like to know what buses are from Siliguri to Darjeeling. The reason for my trip is an experience from when I was 16 years old. It was my first trip to Darjeeling and I got off the bus half way from Siliguri to Darjeeling. Almost all the people got off the bus and I followed them. They walked down a path and I could see eventually that they stopped in front of a small statue and prayed. I too prayed and got all my wishes. I would now like to find that statue again and pray once more. Is there anybody who could give me some information about the location of statues along the way from Siliguri to Darjeeling?
