Hello everybody I'm trying to figure out what's the nicest/safest way to get from Dar es Salaam to Lichinga (North of Mozambique). I'd like to spend a week or so travelling south towards Moz, whilst enjoying the landscapes of Tanzania. Any tips on how to get there? How are the roads? Is it safe to drive? Or is there any bus/train? Also any tips on what to visit on the south of Tanzania? Thanks in advance :) Luisa
Hi Luisa, there are plenty of buses going from Dar down the coast towards Mozambique. There are some interesting places along the way and the lonely planet guidebook gives details of this route and whats along the way. The problem is getting across the river into northern mozambique. There are boats that will take you across and there is entry into Mozam from there but u would need to get a visa I don't believe there are visa's issued there. A new bridge across the river was built in 2010 but it is much further up the river from the coast and takes you into some really wild territory. Look at the below links for more info lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/t... driveout.co.za/destinations/... Hope it helps. It is possible but just needs some time and preparation. Have fun Nigel
