I will be heading toward Dali in late October and understand the best time to visit Myanmar and all its Buddhist pagodas is after November. There is only one hostel in the entire country, located in Yagon (Rangoon), as far as I am aware of. Also there is a train but I don't know whether it reaches as far as China or Thailand. Would anyone know the various ways a backpacker could enter Myanmar from Yunnan?
Does the night train Kunming-Dali have softsleeper?
I am trying to fit Dali into my itenerary and noticed that Ill be there around the time of the Sanyue jie festival. Is this worth visiting for? It would mean cutting out Kunming or backtracking to Kunming at a later time. Any suggestions are appreciated!!
I am travelling from New Zealand with my son who's been teaching English in Chengdu, and will be in Dali in late January. We are considering these guesthouses/hostels ...can anybody tell me whether they have twin rooms with own bathroom (& western style toilet) that have some kind of HEATING (any other advice on Dali accomodation welcome): 1. Dali mingtong yingxian hotel, Cai Cun village ...webpage on www.hostelbookers.com, but doesn't mention heating. 2. No 3 Guesthouse (has Korean & Chinese webpage but no English) 3. Dali Siji (4 Seasons) Inn has webpage on www.wacts.com - says Air-conditioning....that means heating in the winter? 4.Yu'an Garden Thanks
Is there enough in Dali to occupy my wife and me for three days? We aren't the type to sit around a cafe and watch the time fly. We more about to see things. Your comments are appreciated.
