hello!hope soemeone can help me out.im a solo female traveller on a tight budget.im planning to do a 2 day-1 night stay in HCMC then travel by bus or train to hoi an or hue. 1. what's the latest time i cld catch the bus or train? 2. how long is the trip?any idea on how much? 3. since i wanna arrange the tour/s on my own (cuz i think its cheaper that way), wld it be easy to do it on a same day arrival? 4. after hoi an or hue, i wanna go to halong bay-is it close by? sorry for the bazillion questions!any advice wld be deeply and greatly appreciated melody
Take a look at this website for detailed help with the train: www.seat61.com/Vietnam.htm You have to take the train from HCMC (Saigon) to Da Nang. Then from Da Nang take a cab ride (about 25 minutes and12-15 USD) to Hoi An. Land travel in Vietnam is very easy and reliable. Ha Long Bay is NOT close to Hoi An. Its in the northeast portion of the country. Ha Long Bay is about 3 hours from Hanoi on car (private transportation).

There are buses that run almost constantly, as there are trains too. Many offer overnight sleeper options. HCMC to Da Nang is a long way, you'll spend more than a day traveling by land. Da Nang is about half way on the overall route then to Hanoi/Halong Bay. Hue is north of Da Nang by ~3 hours.

It should normally not be that cold, but you might get a lot of rain that time of year. more
