We are going to Protaras in Cyprus in January and are wondering what unique attractions there are to offer here also if we hire a car on the greek side can we drive to the turkish side without problems
The weather should still be pretty good in January and if you hire a car you can drive all around the Island, except in the Turkish governed part. The divide line which runs accross the north of the country is heavily guarded by the military and you are not allowed to pass between the two. Take a trip into the Troodos mountains in the heart of the island and then drive up the west coast to Paphos, its a lovely scenic route and you pass Aphrodites rock. All around the coast of the Island there are beautiful coves and small Cypriot towns. Its a lovely island. Enjoy!

Best ask your travel agent for the most recent situation. You can cross to the Turkish side but you can't go back to the Greek side.

My wife and I have spent the last two of our holidays in Protaras. A wonderful place to eat is called Blue Spice, and if you go there ask for the owner whose name is Frixos and give him regards from Andreas & Erika from Canada. Who knows you may just get special service. Oh and dont forget to visit the St Elias on the hill. The view from there is spectacular. And of course a ten minute drive to Ayia Napa where you might find more life during January. Have a great time and dont forget to write. Take care.

You can travel to the TRNC and come back to southern Cyprus but you must do it is the same day...you will not be able to take your car..a taxi will be available to drive you to your destination...providing you can return in the governed period...
