I am planning a trip to Cuzco, Machu Picchu then onto Salar de Uyuni with a limited budget and 2 week limit. I plan to go by train to Machu Picchu due to limited time. Any recommendations for length of stay at each destination? Travel between? Good hotels? Any help greatly appreciated.
If you take the train to MP one day will be enough, i think if you go on the first train and return on the last one you will have around 5 hours there. There are only two trains that leave in the morning and both return in the afternoon. I would allow 4 days for Cusco as there are quite a few things to see there such as the Inca ruins of Qorikancha, Q'enco ruins, the Sacred Valley, Barrio de San Blas as well as wandering around the city itself. Also there is mountain biking and white water rafting. At Salar De Uyuni there are many tours offered, probably best to take a 2n3d tour, but be prepared as it can get very cold! Don't forget sunglasses and sunblock. Most tours will start at Uyuni Plaza Arce,
