      Rodrigues in July

      Rodrigues Jun 16, 2013 at 12:54 AM

      Hi everyone..
I'm traveling to Rodrigues in 4 weeks, for a 2 week stay. I will meet up with a friend om Ils Reunion. She is not to keen on snorkeling or diving. Any tips on what to do ? Myself I'm an eksperinced diver (300 dives) so I know i will be in the water. :-)
I would also like some tips on transportation ? Would i need it ? Think of motorbike ? Is that a good idea ?

      Cheapskate ways to explore Mauritius

      Mauritius May 30, 2013 at 5:16 AM

      Hi
To celebrate a couple of momentous recent events in the clan, we have booked a week in Mauritius in mid June.
We'll be staying at Le Victoria in the north west, and fortunately the package is all inclusive (as my research indicates that this can be a complete minefield). However, due to the parlous state of the rand and my cheapskate tendencies, I am investigating affordable ways to explore the island, as well as interesting and quirky things to see/do.
Things we'd be interested in include swimming with dolphins, whale watching, horse riding (preferably on the beach), snorkelling in Blue Bay, bird watching (especially for the Mauritian endemics) and anything to do with dodos. We're also not averse to renting a car or using local transport. But this is only a preliminary list, so please feel free to share your experience of things you've done that you really enjoyed: I didn't find as much as I was expecting when I browsed the existing Mauritius pages.
      Looking forward to your guidance!
      Regards
      Cathy

      3 days in Mauritius

      Mauritius Jun 8, 2013 at 4:54 AM

I arrive in Mauritius next week for 3 days. My husband is there on business and I am going to sightsee. I am a keen photographer and would like to know what are the best photographic destinations that I can see in 3 days (people, places, animals). I have my own transport. Is this wise or is it better to hire a taxi for the day? I was looking at doing a Catamaran cruise for a day (to see the dolphins, Benitiers Island, Crystal Rock) but I am not sure that this may be at the cost of missing out on other important sites. I will be staying just outside of Port Louis.
