Off the Beaten Track Sites?

We will be traveling beginning next Saturday for a short visit and would like recommendations on what to see/do that are available in mid-March. We have visited this glorious area before, so we are looking for other than the major tourist sites. We're staying at a B&B near Ambleside and another B&B near Askrigg during our short trip.
