My wife and I will be travelling around the Carribean for a month in July on our honeymoon. We are looking to visit Cuba for at least a few days and I was just wondering where, how and if their were any safety considerations about Cuba that I should be aware of other than the obvious?
Cuba is very safe, one of the safest countries in the Caribbeans. Tourists are very important to the island's economy and a lot of care is taken to make sure visitors can enjoy a hassle-free holiday. It's not a good idea to wander too far off the beaten path in big cities like Havana and Santiago, but other than that, you should be fine. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

I was there for a short visit with an authorized group (the only legal way for an American to go) and we went to Havana and Trinidad. I did a fair amount of wandering around both cities by myself (I'm an old lady) and felt fine about it. Havana is both beautiful and heartbreaking. Buildings with lovely architecture are crumbling, and the people are very poor.
If you are a Hemingway fan, there are numerous places to visit. If you like old cars, it is Mecca. (Many of them are used as privately owned taxis.) Since you are on a honeymoon, you might want to take one of the horse carriages. They usually hang around a downtown plaza looking for passengers.

Happy honeymoon!
Cuba is a very "different" place in the carribean,
As other islands, music is important, you will love "casa de la musica"
Rent a car ,you may stop in small villages out of any touristic areas.
It is also possible to visit with local buses "viazul"
If you stay a week i would suggest two cities :Habana and Trinidad.
If you stay longer, go to Vinales or Cienfuegos or even Santiago de Cuba, by airplane.
Heve a very nice trip!

Visit air conditioned places!!! Cuba is about the safest place in the world to travel - just a few days is not nearly long enough to enjoy this beautiful country.
