We will be in Belize for 1 day from a cruise ship. Don't want to do the usual tour things. Very interested in the Crooked Tree Sanctuary. How do we get there from the dock? What is the cost of transportation. Is this a good place for non bird people. Any other suggestions for the day in Belize?
Crooked Tree is a small village about 35 miles from Belize City, There is a three times daily bus that goes there on the way to Orange Walk. You would be lt off in the village and then walk to the sanctuary and the Crooked Tree Lodge. The Lodge is a beautiful place run by owner/host Angie who is a delight. I don't know how much time you have and consider that the road is not exactly a highway. Best would likely to be having a private car/driver to take you there, but not sure of the cost. The sanctuary is not just for bird watchers as there are multiple animal species to enjoy as well. Here is some further information and some images from the lodge and the animals you can expect to see. Enjoy the experience, - it is worth it. toucantrail.com/Belize-on-a-... crookedtreelodgebelize.com/C... crookedtreelodgebelize.com/C... Hope this helps you.
