Korcula is an island, isn't it? Would be a bit difficult to reach it by bus...

Korcula as a day trip from Dubrovnik? Don't think it's possible, travel time alone on a ferry would take a good part of the day. Besides, even if this were possible, it would be a darn shame to do this when Korcula deserves a couple of days at least. Such a beautiful island.

Assuming you time it just right, the trip by bus to Korcula is going to take about three hours. Thus, a bit long for a day trip. Korcula, as mentioned elsewhere in this thread, is definitely worth a couple of days at least. Also, that late in the season Dubrovnik is going to overwhelmed with tourists and I think you'll be eager to get out of there after a few days.
In five weeks in the Balkans last summer, only in Dubrovnik did we feel like tourists who needed to be separated from their money. Unfortunately, in my opinion, Dubrovnik's success has severely diluted its charm. It seemed like everyone there was playing the game, trying to get what they can, which was dreadfully disappointing compared to the incredible places we'd been to.
I presume you have lots of great things planned while you are there, otherwise you wouldn't have scheduled eight days there but you might consider some other outstanding places nearby like Kotor, Mostar, Mljet (another island, far, far less-visited than Korcula).
