    • [2013] Places to Stay in Dublin for Young Professional

      Dublin Jun 10, 2013 at 1:00 AM

Hi, I will be moving to Dublin for work in September 2013. Likely to be there for at least 2 years. My office will be located at Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2. Any good suggestions for reasonable accommodation with easy access to public transport and amenities like supermarkets, nightlife, etc? Safety of course is very much a priority also. Much appreciated!

      Leitrim May 28, 2013 at 5:20 PM

We are also booking a bed-and-breakfast with hired car trip in July for 10 days. That means two Friday nights! We'd like to see the Causeway and visit family homesteads in Leitrim and Ballinskellings. Not sure how many Gathering events are go on during the week so thought we'd head to the Causeway in the beginning of the week. Any suggestions or are we trying to cover too much? Thanks

      Left Luggage

      Dublin May 20, 2013 at 4:24 PM

We are shortly to travel to Dublin and will arrive in the centre soon after 9.00am. The hotel doesn't allow check-in until 3pm and has no facilities for leaving luggage. Anyone know anywhere in the Grafton Street area where luggage can be left for a few hours at reasonable cost?

    • Must-see sites in southern

      Ireland 3 hours ago

I'm going on a tour for a week around the southern half of Ireland with my grandmother, and we're going to the major sites like Dublin, Galway, Connemara, the cliffs of Moher. Are there other places anyone considers a must-see? Maybe a lesser-known area or just anywhere that sticks out in the mind? We'll have some free time during the tour and I want to see as much as possible. Keep in mind though that my grandmother will be with me, so a ton of walking or hiking is probably not a viable option, unfortunately. Thanks!

      No tourists

      Ireland Jun 10, 2013 at 5:58 PM

Now that I have decided to visit Belfast, Dublin and will end up in Shannon, I am looking for some places where tourists will be far and few between. I have looked at Cork, Killarney, Galway and these places seem to be nothing but tourist oriented. I would like to find some small towns/cities/villages where I can spend a couple of days and hopefully not see tourists over running the area.

How to get from Dublin to Dingle

      Dingle Jun 6, 2013 at 11:36 PM

Hello everyone! I'm trying to make my way to Dingle in the best time possible. My plane doesn't arrive in Dublin until 13:20, so I know that I'm missing any plane I might catch to Kerry Airport, but is there any way to fly to Cork airport from Dublin and then take a bus (or train) to Dingle/Tralee? Or if not, is a bus or train faster when leaving from Dublin airport? I realize neither of those options are as fast as a plane--but I DO want to get there sooner rather than later. Thank you so much for anyone taking the time to answer this, I appreciate it a lot!

      Kilkenny Jan 14, 2009 at 11:57 AM

Hi, my friend and I plan to travel from Kilkenny to Dingle. We will NOT be renting a car. We will stay 1 night in Kilkenny and next morning go to Rock of Cashel and then onto Dingle. I am hoping there is a bus that goes to Rock of Cashel from Kilkenny. However, I don't know if we should return to Kilkenny to take a train to Tralee, or maybe Killarney? And then bus into Dingle from either of these two cities? Or, is there a bus from Cashel into Dingle? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Kilkenny to Dublin by rail - day trip

      Kilkenny Mar 8, 2007 at 9:21 AM

Hi -we're looking at booking a package from the U.S. that'll be going to Killarney (4 nights) and Kilkenny (3 nights) but not signing up for any of the additional day tours in favor of doing all of our sightseeing on our own. Hate the tours - they herd you through too much. in too short a time, with too many people! Anyway, we'll only have two full days in Kilkenny and I figure we'd take one to explore the town, and I'd like to spend the second day in Dublin. I'd like to go by rail as it's probably fastest. Has anyone done this, is it difficult to figure out, and will we have enough time to hit the high spots of Dublin? I figure it may take and hour and a half or so to get there? Am looking at first train out - probably last train back. Appreciate any advice/insight you could throw my way!!

I was in Kilkenny back in June of 2006. I went to the Pump House. I saw a group there that played some traditonal Irish music. I wanted to find out the name of the group and how I could purchase one of their cd's. I am pretty sure I was there either June 28 or 29. Thank you very much in advance for your help. Scott

    • Summer in Kilkenny

County Kilkenny May 24, 2006 at 1:00 PM

Hi everyone, I will spent the whole summer in Kilkenny, from June to September. I just wanted to ask a few questions about living there. Has anybody some tips to find a studio flat or a sharing for this period? Do you know some places where I could stay during my first days there (hotel or B&B. What are the average prices of them?). I will work in the Industrial & Business Park (Purcellsinch). Is it far from the center or not? Are there any bus services which lead to this area? I will welcome any comment or tip which could help me to spend a good summer! Thanks a lot! Manu.

      Country house accommodation

County Kilkenny Aug 16, 2005 at 7:59 AM

We are headed to Cork next week but I would like to stop part way to spend one night (my birthday!) in the Kilkenny area. I would like to stay in a country house type place or perhaps a farmhouse, preferably someplace that does really nice meals (or isn't too far from a good restaurant). Any ideas? I have found a few places but they are either really expensive (we would prefer not to spend more than EUR50 each) or they require a minimum 2 nights. Many thanks Jane

8 of us will be staying in Kilkenny (again)at the end of April. We are playing at Kilkenny, Carlow, and Clonmell. We are looking for a course to play on the way down from Dun Learey (sorry about the spelling, its late) while travelling to Kilkenny and also one when returning back to the ferry. Are there any golfers out there with any suggestions or maybe members that might be able to play with us at their home course. Thanks Geoff
