Yes actually I was going to give similar advise. We both did give some advise to VT member Ramong who was considering a move to Cotonou. He is now living there and would likely be happy to hear from you and give you some pointers. I hve only driven through Cotonou, but had a guide from elsewhere. Here is Ramon's page. "People to see.
