Hi All, We're thinking of renting a place in Caparica in September. The only thing concerning me is getting there from the airport. What is the best option? The letting agent says a taxi from the airport to Caparica takes about 40mins and would cost €20-25, is this correct? Is there a bus/train direct from airport which goes to, or near Caparica? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks Dez

The quickest way would be for you to get on a taxi all the way to Costa da Caparica from Portela airport. The amount in Euros sounds about right but prepare anyway to spend slightly more. It's best to first haggle about the exact fare with the driver to avoid a common misunderstanding. You can also take the AeroBus from the airport to city center down to the ferry landing near Praca do Comercio where you can get on the ferry to Caparica. Make sure to inquire properly at the ferry station. This approach is the most economical but slightly a longer trip, give it a good two hours at least from airport arrival. Good luck and happy trails.

By the way i have copied that entire webpage just in case you wish to view it : HOW TO REACH COSTA DA CAPARICA FROM THE AIRPORT – coming from the airport you have several options to reach Costa da Caparica. Because Costa de Caparica is on the south side of the Tejo river, the trip from the airport can be a little tricky (unless you use the taxi). By TAXI – You can buy a Taxi Voucher to Costa de Caparica on the Tourism desk at the Lisbon airport (cost between 29.49 Euros – until 8.45PM and 34.90 Euros – after 8.45PM, weekends and holydays) or jump in a TAXI at the airport and pay directly to the driver (price might be lower but can also go higher depending on the traffic). The trip takes between 30 and 60 minutes (depending on the traffic). By BUS/Boat/BUS –You must get a bus from the airport to Cais do Sodré (number 91), then take a Ferry to Cacilhas and finally a bus to Costa de Caparica. The total price we are not sure but it must be around 8 Euros. The trip takes between 90 and 120 minutes (very approximately). By BUS/Train/BUS – You can take bus 91 to Entrecampos, than take the train to Pragal and finally the 124 bus to Costa de Caparica. The price must be around 8 Euros. The trip takes between 60 and 90 minutes (very approximately). Train company is (Fertagus), By BUS/BUS – You can take bus 22 to Praça do Areeiro, than another bus to Costa de Caparica. The price must be around 6 Euros. The trip takes between 60 and 90 minutes (very approximately).

That's fantastic Darren, thank you! And thanks Gabriel for your suggestions also. We're holidaying on a budget so we're thinking that we might do bus to Areeiro Square then bus again to Caparica - the hotel has suggested route this also. Any idea how long that would take? We're planning to taxi to airport on the return trip, just to save time. I'm so looking forward to the trip. Thanks again guys!

Hi all, Another question!! We're self-catering in Caparica in late september (25-30th). we'll be doing day trips to Lisbon, Sintra, Belem etc but would also like to have some chilled out evenings in Caparica too. Does anyone know if there'll still be nightlife at that time of the year - restaurants, bars, etc - or will it be fairly quiet? Thanks again

There is no ferry to Caparica. The ferry at Cais do Sodre goes to Almada, and from gere you can tak a bus to Caparica (about 20/25 minutes)
